O11- THE EARL OF CHELMSFORD

"Goddess Eunomia, forgive me for my intrusion but I would like to declare something.", hindi ako nagdalawang-isip na magsalita sa harapan ni goddess Eunomia nang makarating ako sa office niya.

"What do you wish to declare, daughter of Hecate?", her eerie voice sent shivers down my spine.

"It concerns Theo, your grace. I know that the semideus healers of the academy are trying their best for his recovery but... it's not enough, isn't it?", kabadong tanong ko sa kanya. She turned to my direction.

"The son of Zeus? But of course, the healers are doing their best, yet everyone knows that the venom from the Lernaean Hydra has no cure. In a few days, I'm afraid he will die.", halos manlamig ang buong katawan ko sa tinuran ni goddess Eunomia. I clenched my fists at ramdam ko ang paninikip ng dibdib ko sa narinig.

"And his father, the god Zeus. Hindi ba siya nag-aalala sa anak niya? Why do you act so untroubled by this? Wala ba kayong---", natigilan ako nang bigla siyang tumayo mula sa kinauupuan niya.

"Watch your tone, child. You are speaking to a goddess. And another thing... never question or insult the king of the gods. This will be my warning. Theoddeus was the one who brought that suffering upon himself. It was his choice to reject their quest and interfere with yours. Do not hold the gods responsible for the insolent actions of your fellow semideus.", her cold voice echoed throughout the walls of her office. I gritted my teeth to control my anger.

Hindi ako makapaniwala sa mga sinasabi niya. Wala ba talaga silang pake sa'min? They're just gonna treat us like tools for their sovereignity? I hate to say this but the gods really are selfish.

"There's a cure to the Lernaean Hydra's venom, your grace. If I may, I would like to venture on a quest to obtain it. I won't just sit here and do nothing. Hindi yun kaya ng konsensya ko.", I trailed off as I tried my best to sound brave infront of her. Her lips curved into a faint grin.

"You humor me, child. Venture where? And what cure are you talking about?", she sounded amused by what I said. Matapang ko siyang hinarap.

"I would like to venture to the Isles of Sarpedon to obtain the only cure for Theo's illness, your grace. Gorgon's blood.", pagkasabi ko nun ay kitang-kita ko ang pagkakatigil ni goddess Eunomia sa harapan ko. Nawala ang ngiting kanina lang ay nakasilay sa kanyang labi.

"Are you aware of the absurdity you are spouting, daughter of Hecate? I can assure you that you won't even reach the Isles alive.", she mocked, as if testing my patience. Kinuyom ko ang kamao ko para makapagpigil.

"Well I'd rather die trying than sit here and do nothing, your grace.", I answered her. She let out a low chuckle as she slowly paced towards my direction.

"Such bold words. As expected from an offspring of Hecate. I can see that you inherited your mother's resolve... or mere stupidity?", it was an insult.

I sneered at her.

"You wish to venture the Isles of Sarpedon yet you carry nothing with you. Do you think mere attributes from your parental deity can save you from the dangers that lie ahead on the journey? Even the bravest heroes of old tried to obtain the magical Gorgon's blood yet none of them ever returned to tell the tale.", dagdag niya pa. Maya-maya pa ay tumalikod siya sa'kin. I can sense that she was about to add something again when the doors of her office suddenly swung open. Napalingon kami dun.
