Chapter 31

With a heavy heart Sienna drives off to House 51, Gabby told her that Carlos would be staying there for the day because the nanny mixed up her schedule.

"Si" Cruz smiles as he stands up from the squad table.

He notices the blonde isn't her usual bubbly self, "You okay?"

She sighs, "A 12-year-old died on my table."

He rubs her shoulder, "I'm sorry. It's never easy"

She nods, "Thanks Joe. Is Gabby here?"

"Mmm" He smiles, "I'll take you to her"

Gabby smiles at Sienna as she steps into view. "What's wrong?"

"Can I play with Carlos – I had a bad day and I just need a baby hug" Sienna murmurs. Gabby smiles, "You don't even have to ask if you can play with your godchild."

Sienna thanks her and steps into Casey's room. Carlos grins when he sees her. "Aunty Seesee"

He hugs her tightly, "Hey baby"

She tries her best not to cry but the moment Carlos gives her a kiss on the cheek she bawls like a baby. "Auntie Seesee sad? I make auntie Seesee feel better"

She gives him a hug, "You always do buddy. Show me what you've got there, ah, is that a fire truck?"

"Daddy is a fireman"

"Yeah, he is, and he drives in this big truck, doesn't he?"

The boy nods as he drives the toy truck over the bed causing Sienna to smile as she watches him.

'Hey, it's Antonio. Leave a message'

Sienna sighs, "Hey baby, I don't know where you are, but just call me back. I had a bad day, and I just... I love you. You know what, I'm just crazy, you know me. Ignore this message and just come home safe."

She gets home a few minutes later to see Jay sitting in the living room with a bottle of Tequila. Gabby is sitting next to him drinking a glass of wine.

"What's with everybody just walking into my house like they own it?"

He smirks at her, "That is why you gave us keys."

"I gave you both keys for emergencies."

Gabby laughs, "This is an emergency, I was thirsty and Jay brought the alcohol."

Sienna laughs, she walks up to her best friend to hug him. "I haven't seen you in a while Jay-Jay."

He sighs, "Well I need my best friend right now."

Sienna frowns, the mood instantly shifted. Gabby stands up, "I'm going to grab glasses."

"What's going on Jay?" She asks as they sit down on the couch.

"I'm done trying to get Erin to be with me. She's in her own little world"

"Tell me what happened?"

Jay sighs, "She's been pushing away and then pulling me back in and we got a case yesterday, a paedophile that burns other paedophiles alive and she just snapped. I'm done Si. I'm done with her."

Sienna knows words aren't what he needs right now, so she offers him a tight hug.

"I need advice from a girl, you'll do." He teases slightly causing Sienna to roll her eyes and push him. "I remember 14 years ago you thought I was hot. Anyway, my advice is, let her go. She's a good girl but if she causes you so much heartbreak, she isn't worth it. There's someone out there who will fit you perfectly. She's out there"

"Yeah" He sighs, "Let's drink"

She chuckles, kissing his cheek. "Hey, where's Antonio? I can't get a hold of him."

Jay gives her a bewildered look, "He's undercover. I thought he told you."

Her eyebrows jump into her hairline, she smirks bitterly, pissed as hell. "The damn bastard never told me. What's the case?"

"It's not an Intelligence case. His old Vice unit asked him to go undercover."

Sienna sighs, "You're right, we should drink."

Sienna gets a 911 call to the 21st district the next evening.

"Guess you're ending your shift on a high note" Maggie smirks, "Need a hand?"

"Please" Sienna murmurs as she runs to the ambo. Maggie pages Rhodes 911 and soon the two doctors are heading off to the district with their field surgery kit.

A blonde girl she doesn't know, and Sergeant Platt, stands in the foyer.

"What happened?"

"Suspect got stabbed in the eye with a pen" The blonde girl says.

"Show us" Rhodes demands as they go into the interrogation room.

"Jesus" Sienna whispers under her breath when she takes in the scene. Erin's clothes are drenched with blood and the man is screaming in pain.

Sienna crouches down in front of the man and checks the status. "The pen is in his central retinal artery."

"He's haemorrhaging" Connor says. "What's your status here?"

"We take out the pen, and then immediately do EPS otherwise it's going to form a clot."

"Copy" He hands her the tweezers and she takes out the pen slowly. She throws it in the bucket and puts gauze on his eye.

"Let's lie him down" Along with the help from Platt, the two doctors lay him on the floor. Sienna runs to his head and crouches down while Rhodes hovers over his face to be her secondary eyes. She needs to do the surgery blind otherwise the man will lose his vision.

She goes about this slowly and carefully, "just a little more" Rhodes tell her as she clips the vessel. "You're in. His heart rate is down; pulse is normal."

Sienna takes a deep breath. "He's fine." She tells Platt and the officer.

"Thanks Sienna, Rhodes."

"We have to take him to the hospital" They load up the victim in the ambo. The blonde smiles at Sienna, "You're Sienna?"

"I am" She grins

"I'm Hailey, the new detective."

Sienna shakes her hand, "It's nice to meet you Hailey."

Maggie gives her a small smile when she gets out of a surgery of a car crash victim. "Your husband is waiting for you in the ER"

Sienna sighs, "So now he's back from wherever he was for the last two days"

Maggie chuckles as she raises her hands in defeat, "I'm just reporting what I know sister"

Sienna smirks, "Thanks Mags"

She walks into the ER narrowing her eyes at Antonio. He gives her an innocent look, "I'm sorry I didn't tell you about going undercover. It was a quick decision out of my reach. Vice needed me on a case"

"You know, if it wasn't for Jay, I would have called missing persons. I know you need to go undercover; that's your job and I have accepted that. But I need to know where you are so I don't have to worry that you're somewhere in a ditch. Please don't do that again."

Antonio's jaw clenches, "I promise. I dropped the ball Si, it won't happen again"

She nods, "Good"

Sienna walks away from Antonio, the confusion is evident in his brown eyes. He turns around but she's already gone.
