"Si, Jay's in the ER" Maggie tells her a day later. She's in the middle of her double shift.

"Aren't you supposed to be on bedrest still, why are you here?" Sienna chuckles

Maggie rolls her eyes, "I can't sit in a bed anymore, and I think you need to go to Jay."

"Is he busy interrogating someone?"

Maggie shakes her head, "He hurt his shoulder – room 4"

Sienna nods, "Thanks, go home Maggie. Doctor's order"

Maggie mumbles something incoherently under her breath causing Sienna to laugh as she walks to the ER.

Her mood instantly dampers when she see the condition Jay is in. She walks in, "What happened – why didn't you call me?"

Jay smirks, "I told the nurse to tell Maggie so she can tell you"

Sienna rolls her eyes, "Has someone been in here to examine you?"

Jay shakes his head, "The one resident was on his way but got called for a trauma."

Sienna wordlessly grabs gloves, "Tell me where it hurts"

She starts poking and prodding but stops when he hisses in pain.

"You have damage to your rotator cuff. Try to move it for me"

He tries to but hisses in pain, "No, no I can't."

"I'm going to book an MRI and prescribe some pain pills for you. Hang tight"

Jay frowns, "I don't need tests Fizz"

"Yeah you do Jay-Jay" She gives him a cheeky smile, "Hang tight"

Sienna sits after shift in Jay's room while they wait for the MRI results. She has given him some pain killers so he doesn't feel any discomfort right now. "Doctor Roberts, MRI scans are up"

She thanks the resident and looks at it. Jay stares at her expectantly, "So doctor Roberts what is the damage?"

She sighs, "You have an acute tear in your rotator cuff. Did you fall or lift something too heavy?"

He nods, "On the job this morning, I jumped over to the fence and fell the wrong way when I tackled a suspect. I couldn't move it so Hailey dropped me off here."

"Okay" She nods, "I paged the Orthopaedic surgeon, he'll be here in a bit. Until then, just relax and tell me when you start feeling pain again."

"Alright Doctor Fizz"

She laughs and kisses his forehead, "I'm glad you came to the hospital, if you don't seek treatment for a tear, it can get worse."

He smirks, "I knew my best friend would have my head if I didn't come."

Soon the surgeon walks in and starts asking Jay questions. He then started treating Jay and looked at the MRI scans.

"Unfortunately Detective Halstead, you will have to have surgery to fix the tear."

"No" Jay refuses, "I need the work, I can't take medical leave"

Doctor Pen looks at him with stern eyes, "This can only get worse. If left untreated, a rotator cuff tear can severely restrict function and range of motion. The tears can also increase over time. This may cause partial rotator cuff tears to progress to total tears."

Jay sighs, "What do you think?" He directs his question to Sienna causing Pen to scoff. "I am the expert on this case, if you need help with a knife to the heart you can ask Roberts"

Jay snaps, "I am asking my best friend"

Sienna sighs, "I would do the surgery. Recovery time is 4-6 months, which is not nearly as long as it would be if you leave it and it gets worse"

Jay scrunches up his face in pure frustration, "Fine. I'll take the surgery."
