Chapter 9: What's his face...?

~Third Person PoV~

        Asch entered Ava's bedroom to find her clinging to (Y/n) while they were maintaining a loose grip on Ava's novelty pencil in their opposite hand. The prince carries Noi's dagger under his arm as he walks up behind the sleeping humans, with the intent of killing Ava and sparing (Y/n). This was because he thought (Y/n) wasn't a magic user like Ava, therefore the couldn't threaten him. Not to mention that he found Ava obnoxious beyond belief.

        "Human." He began, quietly. "Your sacrifice will be remembered..." He scowls and pulls the dagger out from under his arm and raises it up, so that the blade is facing Ava. As he's about to stab her, a shadowy figure, about the size of a small animal, hits him in the stomach before scampering away. Rhys enters the room shortly afterwards, Pierce standing just behind him.

        "Your majesty, put down the knife." He whisper-yells from the door.

        "Why should I?"

        "Knives kill humans." Rhys states, as if Asch doesn't already know.

        Asch raises an eyebrow in response. "And?"

        Rhys sucks in air through his teeth before taking a deep breath. "Your majesty, I'm all for your way of doing things, but now isn't the time. One human isn't going to solve the entire magic crisis. We need to-"

        The advisor looks up to find that Asch wasn't paying any attention to him, but rather scanning over Ava's sleeping body. "Which part is most tender to stab?"

        "Don't wake her up! She tried to kill me last night."

        Noi enters the room, yawning, standing just behind Rhys. His eyes are barely open.

        "Hey, have you guys seen one of my daggers around? It's missing."

        "Quiet, Noi, or you'll wake her." Rhys scolds, only for Ava to stir in her sleep. Rhys, Noi, Pierce, and Asch gasp, their bodies tensing up.

        "Good job, Rhys!" Noi whisper-yells, angrily. "She's going to kill us!"

        "You said she seemed kind." Rhys retorts, fear lacing his tone.

        "But she told us not to come in here!"

        Asch steps away from the bed, nervously. "Uh, she's going to wake-"

        Ava groans in her sleep, eyes opening slightly, but Pierce suddenly appears beside her, patting her on the head. It doesn't take long at all for Ava to drift back to sleep.

        Noi and Rhys let out a relieved sigh in unison.

        "I could have killed her, you know?" Asch hisses, looking at Pierce.

        "Yes."

        Rhys steps up looking at the two with rage in his blue eyes. "Get out. Now!"

        Noi leaves, Asch and Pierce following suit. Then Rhys exits and closes the door. However, one door opens again, revealing two glowing purple eyes, watching from in the darkness...

        Our group regathered in the sorceress' living space where we had spent the night.
