Jennie's POV
"Look at me" Chaeyoung said.
But I can't. I can't bear to look at her eyes. I can't bear to look at those eyes I have loved for years. I can't bear to look at those deep hazel nut eyes that is now welling with tears.
I can't.
Because if I do, it will hunt me for years.
"Jennie please look at me" Chaeyoung grits her teeth.
She spat my name like it was poison that she needs to get out her system.
I slowly tilted my head, I got a glimpse of her looking at me. Crying. But the moment my eyes landed on her own, she mustered a sweet smile. As if she was proud of me.
"Now, say that you don't love me anymore" she said.
I felt my heart cracked as her voice did. I searched her eyes for any signs of doubts but it seems that she's quite adamant about ending things with me.
I should have expected this.
I should have foreseen the consequences of cheating on the girl who have loved me for years despite my imperfections.
I should have known.
"Rosie-"
"SAY IT!" She shouted.
I flinched. This is the first time I've seen her mad. She's been a sweet girl and I couldn't ask for more. But I broke her.
I hurt her.
"Please... Tell me that you don't love me anymore" she begged.
I can't bring myself to say those words. Not to my sweet Rosie.
"Jennie please I'm begging you" she said.
I tried opening my mouth, but I have gone mute. My throat feels dry and I forgot how to speak.
I can't.
Because if I do, I'd be lying to myself.
"I-" I tried.
I looked at her and she looks at me with anticipation. She was waiting for me to say those words but I couldn't bring myself to say yet another lie.
"I can't" I blurted out.
"Have you thought of that every time you were on his bed while I waited for you to come home?" Her voice is full of venom and I swear I died right there.
"Love-"
"DON'T... Don't call me that. It disgust me" she spat.
My whole body felt numb. I can't feel anymore. She's slipping out and wouldn't be able to grab her back to me.
"Jennie, please say it now. Or else I would hate you for the rest of my life" she said.
And I don't want that.
"I don't love you anymore" I said, surprised that I didn't stuttered.
And she smiled at me. A bittersweet smile that will hunt me for years. Those hazel nut doe-eyes that will remind me everyday that I hurt the only woman that I loved.
"Goodbye, Jen" Chaeyoung said and left.
She left me.
And I deserved it.
