"Sarah, James" I yell from the window. Their both on the pirate ship and castle build in the back yard.
"Foods ready" I yell clicking the button and project my voice in the playground. "Foods ready"
"Ok we're coming mama" Sarah says smiling in a Knight armor. I see James in a pink dress frowning.
Steve comes out from the corner in ashes. My eyes widen at his appearance. "Did they cook you?" I joke.
"They wanted me to face the dragon" Steve says. "I had to make it realistic"
"Yeah yeah blondies get inside or I'm devouring the meal" I say playfully threatening them. They all scurry off and I hear footsteps on the porch.
The door slams open and the three of them walk in. "Hi honey" Steve says kissing my temple and grabbing a water from the fridge.
I slide my kids a bottle of water each and they drown it. "Ma Sarah made me wear a stupid dress. Can I burn it?"
"That's my favorite dress!" Sarah exclaims.
"Then why don't you wear it then?" James retorts. "I looked pathetic"
"Oooo! Coin for James!" I exclaim putting a fake coin in a jar. We all play a game called descriptive caller.
Basically for every advance VOCABULARY word they use in a correct context they'll get a coin. Whoever has the most coins at the end of the month gets to chose an end of the month trip.
Last time Sarah made us go to Brazil. I absolutely refused because it was expensive. So I said that was cheating and had to be in a certain distance.
She retorted and said that was not part of the rule book. She even brought a crayon and circled it. "Contestant with most golden coins, will be allowed to select the destination of end of the month trip"
She went full lawyer on me. Claiming the rules did not state where or how far hence it was not applicable. Steve quietly snickered in the back while I threw James' toy at him.
Anyway, Brazil was fun we spent the week there during spring break. Steve was really sunburnt.
James called him a human Dorito, because he was so red and my man is built like a Dorito.
He looked like a chip out of the bag. The kids definitely have Steve and I traits.
Sarah has lighter hair than Steve surprisingly. Her hair is bright blond, Steve said his mother had really vibrant blond hair.
Sarah definitely took more after Steve. She was tall, face was clean of freckles, was a softy and shy.
Her eyes were dark brown like mine, giving her the appearance of doe eyes and a cute little pointed nose.
James on the other hand looked more like me. Dark hair, freckled face. He did get Steve's blue eyes. He was a little on the short side to Sarah. Sarah was tall while James was a little shorter.
James was also more outgoing and stubborn. He has a lot of curiosity around computers like I do. Sarah on the other hand loves to be outside and run in the sun.
My son and I were the goths in a house of golden retrievers.
"Mama, when is Morgan coming?" Sarah asks innocently.
"Not sure kiddo" I reply. "Tony probably is busy doing Stark things"
"Papa did you get the vase you broke?" James asks reaching for Steve's left over juice.
"Yeah Steve the base you broke you know the one that cost me 1322$" I say sarcastically narrowing my eyes at my husbands. He puts two plates infront of the kids.
"It might've broken" Steve comments. "To be fair" he drops my plate infront of me. "I'm very strong"
James giggles at that and Steve looks at him questioning him. James quickly shuts up. "I am strong!" Steve says.
I care fully put my food in my mouth making a wide expression. "Yes very strong"
"Are you being sarcastic?" Steve says frowning. "I am strong"
"Papa, Can i have 5 dollars" Sarah asks politely. Luckily she changes the subject.
"Sure" I say handing her a 10 dollar bill along with one to James.
"Why do you need money? You're 4" Steve asks confused.
"Honey what are they going to do with 10 dollars? Buy a cake?" I retort.
"A four year old with money" Steve says "where do you plan on using it"
"Oh well James and I have been collecting money" Sarah says.
"Because we need a new sword" James says. "And moms looks really cool"
"Wait you're going to bribe me?!" I asked shocked.
"This is why we ask questions" Steve retorts.
"Guys next time you need something you come to ma or me" he says strictly. "You have to get permission, as for the sword. We'll buy some at the store"
"And by we he means me" I say getting up and grabbing my purse. "I have a class to teach"
"Mama so we can go when you get back?" Sarah asks fluttering her doe eyes in my direction. I see James copy her movements.
I walk over to them kissing both of their cheek. "Yeah we'll all go"
"But I have students to attend to" I say squeezing them tightly. I walk over to Steve and kiss his cheek.
"I love you. Drive safely" Steve says. I'm a university professor for computer engineering.
"Love you guys. Bye" i say waving off and going into my car.

This is officially the longest book I have written.
It will soon be coming to an end (20 chapter + maybe) bc endgame is introduced in the next chapter.
But don't worry, I'm going to give the characters the ending they deserve. Especially some of my favorite characters.
