Chapter 46 - Orace (Oscar x Race)

Oscar's attention was pulled away from his teacher when a new student; a dirty blonde, curly haired, pale skinned, freckled, and blue eyed boy walked in with a Newsie Oscar knew as Albert.

New kid enters class.

Oscar perks up.

Check done.

Hypothesis; he's cute and I'm going to fall hard for him even if I try not to.

Oscar hated his mind sometimes.

The boy made signs with his hands to Albert, before Albert spoke to the teacher.

Oscar's eyebrows furrow. What's he doing?

The teacher just smiles. "Nice to meet you, Antonio." She greets, before turning to the class. "Class, this is Antonio. He is deaf and is your new classmate." She informs them.

Oscar smiles softly to himself. That's cool. It's impressive that he can function like that.

Oscar's smile quickly faded when he heard whispers from the other kids.

"Deaf?"

"How is he in this class then?"

"Shouldn't he be in special help?"

Can't they just leave him alone? Not be so curious?

Oscar saw that the boy- Antonio's- eyes were trained on the kids' lips.

He signs something with his hands.

Albert clears his throat, gaining the kids' attention. "Race- er- Antonio is in this class because he can read lips and yes, he can function mostly on his own." He informs them, a little annoyed. "However, he needs a bit of help."

Antonio, who had been reading Albert's lips, smiles.

Oscar's face flushed a bit at that.

Okay, I'm Gay for the new kid.

Oscar lays his head on his desk, careful not to slam it too hard for fear that it'd disrupt the class.

He didn't need to get sent to the nurse's office.

At least I've come to terms with this quickly.

The only problem with being Gay for the new kid was that he was part of a group that didn't particularly like Oscar and his brother.

Well, they were slowly getting used to them cause certain members of the group adds cool with them, so that was good.

Albert was one of the members who was cool with Oscar.

It was Albert, his boyfriend, Spot, Jack, Crutchie, Elmer, and most of the Brooklyn Newsies in the group.

The others were still a bit wary of them.
