Jim was trying his best to concentrate in the maths class, but the teenager's thoughts were all over the place. His brain had been frazzled by the beauty of the boy blocking his line of view. The most popular boy in school sat at the desk in front of him, legs crossed on the table, showing off his white platform boots, sucking a lollipop, his friend Liza brushing through his hair. This boy's name was freddie, and although he was an unruly, careless teen, he could manipulate anyone into getting his way, and so he never got into trouble with the teachers. As long as he had good grades, they didn't care what he did in class.Jim was pretty sure he heard the math teacher, Miss Charlton, call his name. Probably to get him to answer a question, but he didn't care. He was too busy watching the petite boy with the high cheekbones and deep brown eyes. He was mesmerised by the way the long eyelashes fluttered and the raven locks of hair tumbled down in soft silky waves. He was perfect.
He was caught off guard by the firm hand on his shoulder from behind. He looked up to realise that pretty much all the class was staring at him, including him. Jim gulped, and turned his eyes to the teacher.
"I asked, in case you didn't hear, if you could provide the answer to question seven." Scattered sniggers were heard across the class, and some whispered while pointing and giving him the up-and-down look. Jim quickly read the board. 5 to the power of 4?! How am I supposed to know that?!
He felt a tap on his hand, that was stretched out in front of him on the desk. A piece of paper was subtly passed to him when the teacher looked away for a few seconds to scold some other students for chewing gum. He opened the paper up. "The answer's 625" was written in beautifully neat handwriting, and a pink lipgloss kiss was in the bottom right corner. Jim would know that lipgloss anywhere.
He looked at the boy, and sure enough he was applying another layer of the shiny substance on his plump lips. They caught eyes and the boy winked at the Irishman. Jim's heart did a flip. He could only smile back at the boy, causing the pretty male to giggle and also give him the up-and-down, but instead of it being mean, it was flirty and seductive.
"Well? We're waiting." Miss Charlton had returned to him at that moment, and looked rather annoyed when Jim confidently gave her the answer. She muttered "correct" and trudged back up to the front of the class irritatedly.
The boy dug around in his bag and pulled out a thick sketchbook that had to contain at least 150 pages. He ripped a page from it and also pulled out something rainbow with plastic on, but Jim couldn't get a chance to see. The boy turned away from him for a short moment to write something on the paper, before turning back around to give it to him along with the rainbow item.
The paper read, "Your name's Jim right? I'm Freddie. I think you're cute :) here's my number pretty boy xx". The number was scrawled below in the same pretty handwriting, and there was yet again a pink lipgloss kiss on the corner. The rainbow item turned out to be a rather big lollipop, quite different from the tiny one Freddie had been sucking. Even his name is music to my ears Jim thought with a wistful smile. With yet another layer of lipgloss applied, Freddie blew Jim a kiss, followed by a cute giggle, and turned back to his sketchbook.
The bell rang shortly after, and as Jim was packing his notebook and pencil case back into his bag, he noticed Freddie waiting by the door. The Persian came up to him and spoke in that beautiful soft tone.
"Do you want to spend lunch with me and my friends? We don't bite I promise." The two laughed at Freddie's joke and Jim agreed, thanking the boy for the lollipop and following him to the top of the courtyard where a few students were sat at a bench.
"Hey, who's this asshole?" Some muscly blond guy commented, causing laughter from the group. Jim suddenly wasn't so confident, but when he turned to Freddie he found that the boy had the most furious face on. He walked straight over to the blond and clicked his fingers, following by pointing his index finger up. The blond complied, standing up, and Freddie all but pushed him away, much to the shock of the rest of the group.
"That's very hospitable of you to give up your seat for him Roger, thank you." Freddie glared at the blond and then smiled sweetly at Jim, signalling to the seat. Roger stalked off, miserable, and Freddie tossed his bag after him with a very loud and offensive swear word, that was almost definitely heard by one of the teachers wandering around. Freddie sat down next to Jim and rested his head on the Irish. Jim let him, but his heart was doing a million beats per second. He was sitting with his crush and his head was on his shoulder.
Freddie introduced him to all the teenagers, and he took a liking to one boy, Brian, very quickly. Freddie kept giving him smiles all through lunch, and at the end of break Freddie held him back and placed a packet of sour apple pencils in his hand. Freddie shyly kissed his cheek, and, with a bit of hesitation, leaned up to place a second kiss on the Irish's lips.
Jim flushed bright pink, but smiled at Freddie, adding his phone number as soon as he got home. The two of them chatted way into the night, and met each other outside the school gates the following morning. This happened every daye since, and the two of them would then go on to attend the same college, where they started dating their first week in. On Freddie's 26th birthday, Jim proposed and they were married the following year.
Eight years later, they were still happily wed with two beautiful daughters, Sophia and Emilia. They had built up respectable occupations and spent nearly every minute of every day thinking about each other with wistful smiles. They couldn't wish for a more joyful and content life.
