Even on stormy days (PART TWO) - Fluff

Freddie awoke around noon, still feeling like utter shit. He willed himself out of bed, rubbing a hand over his face as he trudged out of his bedroom and down the stairs. As he walked into the living room, he was surprised by the presence of his mother.

"Oh, mama. Hello." Freddie gave a small smile, and instantly Jer was gently snuggling him, stroking his hair the way he always used to like it. He couldn't help but smile - it had been a while since he'd seen his mother, and he had missed her.

"Jim called me baby, he said that you wanted me for something. I bought you some snacks, because you mentioned how you can't keep anything down, so there's some ginger things in there to help with sickness, I made a biryani last night so there's some there and some jasmine rice, and I made some Kachori this morning." Jer held out a container, and Freddie smiled. Good old mama.

He took the containers with thanks, hugging his mama again, because sue him but she always gave the best cuddles, and led her into the kitchen to make her a cup of coffee. He also got out the biscuits Jer had made and put them on a plate for them to share.

"How have you and Papa been, mama?" Freddie was more than willing to let his mama talk about her day. She always made him feel so calm; he treasured her more than anyone else in the whole world. Apart from the girls. And Jim. And Bomi. And Kash. Ok, he loves everyone very much. Sorted.

Jer ended up staying for lunch before she had to go back home. Freddie hugged her tightly when she was about to leave, and thanked her for making the food for him. She patted him on the head and said "no problem dearie. You're eating for two anyway." Freddie smiled - Jer was so precious.

Freddie retired to bed extremely early that day, falling asleep to Jimmie Rodgers on the vinyl record player, the tune to Kisses Sweeter Than Wine filling his head as he drifted off, content and peaceful.
