Freddie sat in John and Veronica's living room, with a cup of tea in his hand, locked in conversation with Veronica, as usual. Sophia and Emi were having a play date with Robert and Joshua, as Freddie and Jim needed to attend a scan for the baby.

"Hopefully we'll find out the gender today." Freddie grinned and Veronica cooed. "When you get back you have to tell me! Then tomorrow we can go baby shopping!" Freddie laughed and agreed, finishing his cup of tea and thanking Veronica for her hospitality. He poked his head into the kitchen where Jim and John were.

"Ready to go, darling?" Freddie asked and Jim nodded, getting up from where he sat at the kitchen table. John got up too and hugged Freddie good luck, shaking hands with Jim. Veronica hugged Freddie too, and he got cuddles from his kids and nephews as well before they left.

"Are you excited to see baby Hutton?" Freddie grinned over at his husband from the passenger seat. Jim did not take his eyes off the road, but he nodded, smiling and took his hand. They checked into the hospital and sat in the waiting room, quiet chatter being made between them.

"Mr Freddie Hutton?" A nurse called. Jim and Freddie stood up and followed her into a room. The doctor sat at his desk in the corner of the room and a scan bed covered in paper could be seen behind a curtain.

"Good morning Freddie, ready for your scan?" Freddie nodded and, by request, hopped up on the paper-covered seat. He lifted his shirt and before the doctor put the sticky, cold gel on his stomach, he made some routine checks, checking over the baby in gloved hands and asking Freddie after himself.

"Not too much sickness?"

"Well, it comes and goes in waves. Sometimes, like today, I'm fine, but others I can barely make it out of the toilet."

"We'll keep an eye on that over the next few weeks. Right, time for the ultrasound then." The cold gel was smothered over Freddie's stomach and he shivered a little - it was cold and smelt bad.

The doctor put the scanner on his tummy and moved it around, telling the two men to watch the screen. They dad, and soon a tiny blob should be seen that mildly resembled a baby's body. Freddie could have cried at the cuteness of the little hands and feet he saw on the screen. Jim smiled like he'd won the lottery, and kissed Freddie on the top of his head.

"Would you like to find out the gender?" The doctor asked and freddie nodded.

"In that case, congratulations. You're having a little boy, Mr Hutton."
