Today officially marked a year since Sophia Marie Hutton was welcomed into this world. Freddie beamed with pride as he observed his daughter in a world of her own, transfixed by the stuffed rabbit in her hands, that had been gifted to her by her uncle Roger.

"Happy Birthday, Sophie." Roger had cooed as he watched his niece squeal when her eyes set on the rabbit. Now, Roger had gone home with his wife and children, and Freddie and Jim were alone with their daughter.
"Why don't you take her up for her bath, hm?" Jim suggested as he placed his lips on Freddie's temple. Freddie nodded.

He approached his child and called her name softly to get her attention. She looked up at her daddy and her eyes sparkled. Her hands flew out to the side, and she clenched her fists, signalling to Freddie that she wanted to be picked up.

"hello, baby..." Freddie cooed as he took her into his arms and drew himself up to his full height. His daughter squealed and snuggled up to her daddy. Freddie placed one hand on her crown, massaging the scalp softly as he gently bounced the tiny baby in his arms. He hummed a familiar melody as he cuddled with his daughter, taking her upstairs and into the bathroom.

"It's time for your bath, sweetie." Freddie murmured. He discarded of his child's clothing and placed her in the shallow water, full of bubbles. The small girl babbled happily as she clapped her soap-covered hands together, sending bubbles flying on the walls and on the floor. Freddie smiled as he watched his daughter play so happily.

Sophia slammed her hands down on the surface of the water, and the clear liquid shot out of the tub and splattered all over the marble floor. Freddie groaned to himself, but still smiled at his daughter's joy. The baby shrieked with laughter and wiggled around, and the water sloshed about.

Freddie combed shampoo through his daughter's fine black hair using his fingers, then, ever so gently, rinsed it out, careful not to get any soap in Sophia's eyes. Then Freddie picked her up and wrapped her in her favourite fluffy yellow towel. Sophia snuggled into her daddy's chest gratefully. Freddie placed a kiss on her petite forehead and brought her into the nursery, where he set her down on the changing mat, put on a clean nappy and put her in a fresh set of clothes; a light pink top with sleeves that ended just above the elbow, and the word "princess" in cursive white writing down the middle, and some matching leggings, with horizontal white and pink stripes.

Freddie saw his daughter's brown eyes begin to droop, and he placed her in her cot, where she soon entered dream land, clutching a soft blanket that Freddie's mother, Jer, had knitted for her. Freddie kissed his daughter's nose, placed another blanket over her, and tiptoed out of the room, not forgetting to turn on her nightlight and leave the door ajar, just how she liked it.
