"Alright! Be careful of crowds!" Tohru yelled as she waved to the guys that were about to leave.
"Don't do anything stupid!" You added, watching them leave the house. "Lock the doors, idiots!" Kyo called back, as he and Yuki soon started bickering. "Stay safe Honda-san, (Name)." Yuki too said his part as he turned back waving goodbye. You waved both your hands up in the sky like some crazy dude.Once they all had left, you closed the door behind you and turned to Tohru. "Shall we watch some TV, fair maiden?" You asked her in a joking matter, offering her a mock bow. Tohru laughed slightly to her before happily nodding. She followed you into the living room. The two of you sat in silence as you turned on the TV and watched whatever was playing at the time, while laughing here and there and making sarcastic comments.
"Tohru-chan, is this your first New Year al..." You stopped yourself mid sentence, and instead decided to reword it, "...away from family?" You ask, shooting her a glance, as she turned towards you. "Yes! This is my first new year away from family! And without my mom." She said, not seeming to mind the fact. You reach out and gently ruffle her hair, giving her comfort in your own way.
"You're not completely away from your family. I'm part of yout family too, arent I?" You ask, a cheeky grin on your face as she stared at you in surprise before reaching out and taking a hold of your hand, giving it a small squeeze."Yes! You are!" She responded, a bright smile mimicking yours, on her face.
"How about you (Name)-chan? Is this your first New Year without your family?" She asked, growing curious."Ah, no. It's kind of a long story.." You mumble, turning your attention back to the TV. "I don't mind at all! We have all the time in the world, (Name)-chan!" She responded, a warmth spreading through out your body at the fact that someone was actually interested in something you had to say. It was a rather fluffy feeling.
"Well, then.. you see in the Sohma clan, especially the cursed part, our family situations are rather complicated." You tell her, unsure of how to properly tell her the story. "There are some who have happy families and others who.. don't. You could say I once used to have a happy family too." You say, your eyes on the tv but your attention elsewhere.
"...used to?" Tohru asked, tilting her head in confusion. Perhaps it was due to your tone, but she had a nagging feeling this story was about to go downhill.. "Yeah. Seven years ago an incident happened. I kinda somewhat lost my family, even though they're all alive." You add, pathetically laughing to yourself as Tohru grew even more confused.
"My parents were actually both very kind people, I could tell they cared for me a lot and loved me more than anything. Or, at least more than any parent i know. And of course, the feeling was mutual." You explain, recalling the dark past that you had hidden deep within your heart. Tohru let out a simple hum to let you know she was listening. "The two of them loved me so much.. to the point where they wanted me to get away from the Sohma clan."
"And around new year night, they packed up and left with me, hoping nobody would notice, and instead be caught up in the banquet events and chaos." You say, your hear beginning to clench as you continued on with the story. "..but it seems we were wrong. Akito-san, the head of the family caught us and was furious for breaking the rules. He banished my parents away from the main estate."
"In addition, he forced them to have their memories of me erased. It was punishment for both my parents and I." You sadly say, letting out a shaky exhale as Tohru softly squeezed your hand. "I haven't exactly seen them since, I guess I was afraid they would move on without me, and I wasn't ready to see that. So instead, I became a person who mourned and grieved people who were very much alive."
"After that I stayed with Hiro, another member of the Sohma family... I guess I've never really been a huge fan of new year. And I'm definetely not a huge fan of Akito-san, haha.." You awkwardly mumble. A silence befell the both of you, and you nervously glanced up at Tohru. You could see tears welling up in her eyes, as she furiously fought the urge to cry.
She leaned over, engulfing you in a warm embrace and holding you close to her. You retuned her embrace rather shyly, finding her warmth comforting. You, refusing your own urge to cry, as you stuffed your into the crook of her neck. "I-i guess we both miss our parents." Tohru slowly and quietly spoke up, after a long moment of silence.
"Tohru, it's okay to cry." You say, stifling your laugh at her 'trying not to cry' expression. "In fact... let's both cry? Let it all out, y'know?" The both of you were huddled up in a corner, comforting each other at the harsh ways of the world.
..That was until the door banged open, causing both you and Tohru to flinch. "Y-you startled me!" Tohru said in surprise as she frantically waved her hands, quickly letting go of you. "W-why are you guys here?" You say, quickly letting go of her, and wiping your own tears.
"Honda-san, (Name). You guys are stupid." Yuki said, as he approached the both of you. He was breathing deeply, as if he was out of breath. "For once in my life, I agree with this damn rat. The both of you are idiots!" Kyo added, pointing an accusing finger at the both of you.
"E-exuse me?"
"Take that back!"
