A Different Beginning ~ Part 38 ~ Updated: 1/23/14 Late Evening

Gabriel’s chest heaved a sigh and he looked to me holding me close to his chest as I asked again. “Please Meanie.” I whispered removing the mask looking exhausted pain radiating in my chest. I couldn’t take the lying and I wanted to know why Nathan and Gabriel were hurt so badly. Reaching up I touched his cheek lightly and he held my hand there waiting for a moment before beginning so speak.

“We came here to help the school back into shape and hopefully put everything together and make sure that everyone was safe. But some of the kids who are stirring up trouble aren’t happy we are hear. They realized who we were when Mr. Hendricks called us into his office yesterday. So as we shifted from class and we got pinned in the hallway on the way here.” He paused pulling me closer and I rested my head against his chest. “They surrounded us at least eight people and started the fight with Nathan and when I came out into the hallway I rushed in.”

My mind rushed trying to accept the information and I paled hiding my face into Gabriel’s chest holding tight to his clothes the pain in my chest dulling a bit. He was here and he was safe. Nathan was here as well and was safe in the hands of Dr. Green. Mr. Blackbourne would also take care of things. A hand lightly touched my head and another rubbed my back making me flinch as pain shivered.

“Ms. Sorenson?” I slowly pulled away looking to Mr. Blackbourne.

“Everything okay?” His silver eyes met mine.

“No.” I could feel the anger slipping through me but I held back and moved back into Gabriel’s chest, I knew he wasn’t asking about my feelings on the topic, but I couldn’t help it. “I am not happy that they are in so much danger being here. This could happen again at any time to any one of the boys and with the principle making them get uniforms it just makes them a bigger target.” I turned back to Mr. Blackbourne his brows raised in surprise. “I am not okay and things won’t turn for the better if they keep rushing after me if Mr. McCoy keeps coming after m-“ I froze as my mind connected the dots and I looked to Nathan. “You said right as you were leaving they showed up?” Nathan quickly nodded and I looked back to Mr. Blackbourne. “I don’t have any proof but is it possible that Hendricks is pulling the strings? I mean with the students as well?”

Dr. Green stilled at his desk surprised and both Mr. Blacbourne and him met each other in a deep stare. I glanced to Gabriel who slipped his hands to my back as I bit back pain and lightly rubbed my shoulders. I hadn’t realized that I was so tense and slowly relaxed them even as the dull pain continued and he held me close. “Sang no matter what we are going to keep you safe.” I blushed and lightly loosened my grip on his shirt nodding.

“Thank you Gabe.” I responded and Nathan started to get up and I moved to him putting my hands out to warn him. His blue eyes met mine and I could see the pain still alit in his eyes. I smiled softly and helped him get a bit more comfortable and he wrapped an arm around my waist guiding me to sit with him in the cot as he laid down to rest. “How are you feeling?” I lightly touched his upper arm taking a better look at his other injuries.

“Sore. But that is to be expected.” He responded and his hand slipped into mine. I smiled as Gabriel walked over.
