A Different Beginning ~ Part 63 ~ Updated: 2/21/15 Late Evening

Dinner went smoothly as the night continued Luke continued to make jokes making me laugh and then in turn making Dr. Green complain about my “adorable giggling.” I rested in Kota’s arms for the majority of time giggling and smiling at the conversations but I was soon deposited onto Victor’s lap so that Kota could eat as well.

Victor’s hands swept over my sides as I slowly curled back up into a comfortable position. His warm hands met the back of my neck and I hid my face into the crook of his neck in turn. Closing my eyes, I felt the exhaustion slipping over me but I forced my eyes open watching the others talk around the table. It was Dr. Green’s eyes that caught mine.

“Pookie are you tired?” His voice was very soft as he lightly leaned forward brushing my hair out of my face. I nodded slowly and Victor shifted his hands as I slowly started to sit up. “Why don’t you head upstairs and sleep?”

The conversation around the room went quiet and I glanced down at my hands trembling. I glanced over to Gabriel who shifted in his seat as he met my eyes. “She can’t.” Gabriel responded and all eyes shifted to him in confusion.

“She tried to go to bed earlier upstairs. She woke up in a fit three times.” North jumped in and Victor’s hands slipped into my trembling ones.

“That fucking bitch did this to her.” Gabriel growled and I closed my eyes tight. Victor’s hands rushed out pulling me back to his chest rubbing my back. “She can’t go back there.” He screamed his hands hitting the table hard. My breath hitched hard and Victor’s arms tightened.

“Silas.” Victor whispered and Silas was shifting to Gabriel.

“Gabe…” Silas’s voice was filled with warning. “Calm down.”

“But everyone here is thinking it!” Gabriel screamed louder standing up now. “That mother-fucker has tortured Sang for years. Her back is covered with scars and now she can’t sleep because of something else she has done.” He bellowed and Kota stood.

“ENOUGH!” Kota yelled and I wheezed into Victor. Victor rushed to stand scooping me up into his arms and rushing me out of the room. My mind rushed through the memories I had and I could only remember one time my mother had ever smiled at me. But I wasn’t even sure if that was true. Shaking hard, tears slipped down my cheeks and I clung to Victor tightly.

Someone’s hand found my chin and pulled me in their direction as the oxygen mask was slipped over my mouth. Tears slipped down faster and my eyes met Dr. Green’s. He leaned forward placing a soft kiss on my forehead. Gabriel was mad at me. He was really mad. I let out a shaky sob and curled back into Victor.

It took about a half hour before I was able to stop crying. I glanced around the room we were in and my eyes settled on a number of books. We must have been in the library. Shifting a little Victor slowly removed the mask from my mouth and I took a few shaky breaths.

“He didn’t mean to scare you so badly Princess.” He whispered into my ears and I glanced up to him not believing him.
