Beomgyu entered the park and swept his worried eyes across the whole area to spot his fiancé, but the younger seemed nowhere in sight.
Yeonjun called him a few minutes ago, asking him to come to the park as soon as possible. His voice sounded anxious and Beomgyu asked him what was the matter with him but Yeonjun said nothing about it which made the older worry really bad, so he left whatever he was doing at the moment and came rushing to his fiancé to check up on him and make sure that nothing serious had happened to him.
Beomgyu took a few steps forward and soon enough he found the boy sitting on the bench alone with a brooding expression on his face and eyes glued to the ground as if lost in thought but still managed to notice Beomgyu when the latter approached him.
"Hi", Yeonjun greeted him and forced a little smile while Beomgyu went towards him with a worried expression, seating himself beside him and turning his body towards the boy.
"What's wrong?", he asked, brushing off some pink strands to take a better look at the sad expression on his face, "Why did you sound so anxious when you called me?"
Yeonjun let out a defeated sigh at that, his shoulders slumping down as he looked down at the floor again, fingers twisting around each other anxiously. "I found the adoption papers in the basement", Yeonjun said without lifting his gaze from the floor and Beomgyu's eyes widened at his announcement, "I was down there to clean up when I heard something fall behind me. I looked down and found the document lying on the floor and picked it up, thinking it was nothing important. And then I noticed that it was not just any piece of paper... It was a page from an adoption certificate and my parents had signed it"
Beomgyu blinked in surprise as he stared into Yeonjun's deep brown eyes, trying to understand what the younger was saying.
"You're saying that you're adopted?", he asked in surprise, but Yeonjun sighed and shook his head in denial which made a frown deepen on Beomgyu's face.
"No, it's Seojun", Yeonjun said in a monotonous voice, looking straight ahead with his hands buried under his thighs, "He's not my biological brother"
Beomgyu opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something but closed it right away, trying to process this information. He knew that finding out a such piece of information could really affect a person, but he still couldn't understand why some people used to make a big deal out of it. Even if Seojun wasn't Yeonjun's flesh and blood, he was still his brother because they had grown up in the same house and by the same parents. They loved each other like real brothers did and in Beomgyu's opinion, that was completely enough. He didn't really want Yeonjun to stress himself out for that.
"Even if he's not your biological brother it doesn't change anything", Beomgyu tried to console, slipping his fingers into the boy's hair and combing through it slightly with his fingers, "It still means that you have been raised together since birth"
Yeonjun nodded his head slowly and looked down. Beomgyu could notice that there was also something else bothering the other boy, although he wasn't quite sure what.
"So why are you upset?", he asked softly, hoping that the boy would be able to give him a reason for all this.
Yeonjun bit his lip anxiously before finally opening his mouth. "Because I have a biological brother but no one knows where he is"
Beomgyu frowned slightly at that, feeling more and more confused. "What do you mean?", he questioned with a soft tone and watched as Yeonjun lifted his chin up to meet his eyes, his dark brown orbs showing that he was deep in thought.
