"I saw Luke in town yesterday, married with two kids. The girl is about six and the little boy is about three. They are here for the festival." Jenny informed them.

"The great End of Sumner Festival. Every child and adult look forward to and dread alike. One, it is the greatest thing to happen in Sunnyside, bigger than even Christmas celebration. But for the kids, it means only one week before school." One would think Jonny was a Storyteller with the calm trance-like manner he just delivered his little speech.

"I came here for the festival twice, once when I was five, and then two years after. It was a lot of fun I have always wanted to come back but..." She didn't finish her sentence.

Kevin wished she did, that way he would have an idea of what was going on with her.

They all decided it was getting late, it was time for them to head home. "So, we will be seeing you at the festival, right Jesreen?" Summy asked. Jesreen told her she will be there Friday evening, but she was not sure about Saturday as she will be working evening.

They wish each other good night and went their separate ways. This reminds Jesreen of the first week she came to Sunnyside, and she came for Ice Cream. Kevin introduced her to the guys she can't believe it was already six weeks since she was there.

She walked to the car with Kevin, still been little sad from Deon's question at dinner, she thought about the way things used to be when she and her parents came to the summer end fest eleven years ago and two years prior to that. It seems like a lifetime ago for her, it was almost a lifetime ago, more, a lot more than half her lifetime.

But overall, it was a lovely day she needs to learn to deal with her parent's situation she can't just zoom out each time someone comments on her parents.

They reach the car and Kevin open the door for her. On their way home they talked about how much fun they had, they also talked about him coming to pick her up for work and coming back for her so she could go and collect her car.

They told each other good night and just like the night before Kevin wait until she closed the door before he drove off.

On his drive home, he decided that he was going to ask her to be his date Friday for the festival. Even go a little further by letting her know he wanted her to be more than just his friend, he wanted to date her.

He wondered if he should, he does not want to scare her off. Maybe he would just hang out with her until she was ready to date. He has a feeling she is not ready. How is he going to know when she is ready? He was so confused. He has never had such a hard time making a decision in all his life.

She was looking so beautiful today, she was also having a lot of fun. All that changed so quickly when they had mentioned her parents. At home Kevin had a hard time going to sleep, Jesreen was all he could think about. He wondered what she and his mother spoke about. Tomorrow he was going to have his mother.

Jesreen laid in bed, thinking about the day she had. She like the guys she also like Mr. And Mrs. Henry they are just as her parents would be if her father had not been to war.

Why does there have to be Wars, all they do is destroy families. She turned on her side looking at the pictures that she had on her bedside table. One was with her and her father. One with her, her mother and father.

They took them to the Summer End Festival when she was seven. Her father had just promised her that they would come every year until she feels she was too old to come to the festival with her old folks.

"Silly, I will never be too old to have fun with you, and you will never be too old." She remembers laughing at him. It was while they were laughing, her mother took the picture she then asked a young man to snap the next one with the three of them.

"Jesreen wishes she could go back to that day; she wishes that Friday it was she and her old folks that will be at the festival. She wipes the tears from her eyes, annoyed.

There were two more pictures one of her mother, brother and sister. The other one was with the four of them they were taken ten years after. Her mother told them that she had brought the house and they all included Jason would be moving within a few weeks.

She asked Jesreen if she remember the festival, she said they all would be going that year. As always, she used the opportunity to remind her about her father and some fun things they did. Keeping her father's memories fresh in her head.

They never get to move, not until she did a few weeks ago without her mother, brother and sister. This time she could not hold back the tears she cried herself to sleep there was no smile today only tears.
