Gu Chenyi read a few more different articles on his phone before he closed out of the news application.

Raising his brows, he said to Gu Xi, "What happened with the Gao family was certainly the handy work of First uh......"

He was half way through talking when he realized that he always gave himself away. Luckily he stopped himself just in time.

"What I meant to say was. That's bad karma for his family." Judging from the way Gao Zifan was, the Gao family was probably no innocent people either.

Looking at how hard Gu Chenyi tried to cover it up, Gu Xi did her best not to busted out laughing and nodded.

Seeing that Gu Xi didn't seem to notice what he was saying, Gu Chenyi opened up the Gu family chatgroup and @ his First Uncle.

[Gu Chenyi: Hehe, First Uncle, are you the one behind the matters of the Gao family?]

First Uncle Gu came online and said nonchalantly: [Just a small lesson was all.]

"Dad?!" Gu Xi had a surprised look on her after pausing for a second.

How come Gu Shao was here?

Had it not been Gu Chenyi's reaction, she would have thought that she was seeing things.

Gu Shao, too, noticed Gu Xi amidst the crowd. He handed the documents that he was holding to a worker from the organizer said and said, "That's it for now then."

"Alright, we won't keep you any longer, Professor." The two took off, not forgetting to give Gu Xi one more look before their departure: Professor Gu's daughter was the one who scored the highest during the competition today.

Gu Xi ran up to Gu Shao with a happy look on her.

Looking at the girl who had run up in front of her, Gu Shao's look softened without him knowing. Then he saw the extra-large cup of milk tea.

Gu Shao had never said it directly to her before but he had mentioned to Aunty Mei that she was not allowed to have junk food.

Thought Gu Xi with a guilty conscience.

"Em, Dad, this, uh, this is Gu Chenyi's."

Gu Chenyi was the one who bought it for her. When push came to shove, Gu Xi betrayed Xiao Yi-zi with no hesitation.

She pointed behind her as she spoke.

Then, when she turned around, Gu Xi was stunned. It had only been a few seconds and Gu Chenyi, who had been following behind her the entire time, was nowhere to be seen.
