Chapter 123 - "Boss! Are you actually reading the school forum?!" (1)

"Fourth place in what?" asked Gu Xi as she looked over at Dong Mingming, baffled.

"This one. Voting in the forum." Having said that, Dong Mingming showed her phone to Gu Xi.

At the top of HSAU's school forum was the voting of the student representative for the Art Festival.

Dong Mingming clicked on the link and scrolled down to Gu Xi's photo. Sure enough, in addition to her name and her class underneath her photo, there was also a number "4".

"Hehe, and here I was just wondering how to get you more votes," said Dong Mingming with a chuckle.

As it turned out, she had yet to act upon it when Gu Xi's was already in 4th place.

"You haven't promoted me or paid people to vote for me?" Gu Xi lifted her brows. She was quite surprised by the outcome as well.

"Of course not!"

"These votes are all legit. See for yourself. So many people support you below." Dong Mingming scrolled all the way down as she spoke.

There were a lot of comments on the bottom and quite a bit on Gu Xi.

Most of the people in the forum knew of Gu Xi and voted for her. Most of them were convinced by her performance during the Joint Science Competition.

That being said, that was not the only focus.

Gu Xi keep on scrolling down and noticed quite a few mentions of "Beauty Queen."

"I thought we are voting for the student representative?" Gu Xi gave Dong Mingming a dubious look.

"Yes, the voting was meant for a student representative but, welp, owing to some historical reasons, it had been interpreted as voting for our 'Beauty Queen'," explained Dong Mingming to Gu Xi.

Way back when, the voting was for the purpose of electing a student representative. All the way until one year, one of the students uploaded a very pretty picture – she was also quite pretty in person – she became a big hit and even took first place in the end.

With that start, the few years after that all of the classes had, consciously or subconsciously, selected the prettiest one in their class to nominate.

As such, over time, 'voting for the student representative' became synonymous with 'voting for the Beauty Queen'.

"Oh, I see......" Gu Xi got it now.

That was explain why the faces art committees' face twitched when she asked why wasn't Sheng Xiuyan nominated.

Taking a closer look, sure enough, all of the nominated 'student representatives' were females.

"That being said, with Sheng Xiuyan's popularity in HSAU, he very well might be able to score the first place if he would put on a wig." Gu Xi grumbled to herself as she looked over in Sheng Xiuyan's direction.

After all, when they were talking about votes from students, it was more or less a popularity contest.

Over on the other side, Sheng Xiuyan, who was napping, sudden felt a shiver down his shine and he shuddered.
