When I woke up my back was hurting more than it ever had, who would have guessed sleeping on the floor would hurt you.

This morning was uneventful but after lunch as I was walking to class this man with hook hands came to talk to me. This mans appearance was decently scary, definitely enough to not start conversation but when he started talking I couldn't help but listen, he was very kind.

He had asked if a man had came up to me in the hallway the other day and of course I said yes because I assumed he worked there, he wouldn't be the weirdest teachers this place had.

He started asking me questions about myself and my family I wasn't totally clueless so I didn't answer all his questions only the ones that seemed harmless, "do you get along with your siblings?" He asked, I said "not really" he tried to ask more questions but I told him I had to get to class.

Something felt wrong in my gut but I didn't listen and even worse I didn't tell Duncan and Isadora or the Baudelaires, in fact I didn't tell anyone. Silence can be sweet or it can cause tragedy.

Being silent was what I was good at, it hadn't caused anything so serious before.
