ESTE RETURNED TO FORKS HIGH SCHOOL the following day. In reality, staying away from work was the last thing she needed. Right now the Cullens had to rely on normality, it may be the only thing which would save them.

She was walking down the corridor with a stack of books held against her chest when Hazel walked out of the staff room looking tired, a thermal cup filled with coffee held in one hand.

"Este!" She smiled, her eyes lighting up, "how are you?"

"I'm alright thanks" Este replied simply with a small frown towards her concern, "and you?"

"I'm fine" Hazel looked confused, "I... heard you were at a funeral yesterday"

Este had completely forgotten about her lies. It made sense now, the concern written over her friends eyes. Este faltered slightly. She'd never actually been to a funeral, she imagined they would be rather hard for people involved.

"I was yes" she nodded slowly, "but I'm alright, I just wanted to get back to work as soon as possible"

"Of course" Hazel replied, "take your mind off things, if you need anything you know where to find me"

The woman smiled again before she turned and started walking back towards her classroom. Este called out a thank you before she found herself back in her own room. It had only been a day so Este wasn't sure why she felt as though she'd missed a lot. There was still a vase of flowers on the desk in front of her, half marked work lain open on the wooden surface. She'd have to see to that later.

For the most part, the day went as smooth as ever. Este was back in her element. The talk she'd had with Edward had managed to calm her mind somewhat. Of course she was incredibly worried about him, knowing that he was now more scared of the future than he had ever been but she knew whatever did happen, they'd be able to work through it.

She tried not to let the thoughts of Bella Swan and Alice's vision contain her mind as she taught. The students were probably under the impression that her level of teaching had been slipping over these last few weeks considering how distracted she'd been. That day she tried her hardest to retain her concentration.

This went perfectly fine until her first lesson after lunch. This was of course the class which included Bella Swan herself. She looked the same as ever, her hair hanging limp around her face and her eyes rather sad as though she was constantly questioning why she was where she was. The girl sat in her usual seat and didn't talk for the entire lesson, ignoring the incessant whispers of Jessica and Angela behind her.

Este believed that it could of gone worse. Of course she wasn't as focused as she had been in her other lessons. It was hard to ignore what had been going on when the cause of everything was sitting only a few feet away from her. Este continued her lesson as usual, ignoring the girls curious stares as she did so.
