March 13, Midnight

South District, Custefai

Like the great cities of our world, the capitals of the glamorous powers of this world naturally have their dark side. Such is the case here, in the slums of the southern part of the capital. The residents of other areas never go near this southern area, where robberies, murders, rapes, and other heinous crimes occur on a daily basis, where security is several times worse than in other areas, where corpses of victims of such crimes are left to rot, and where the sanitary environment is poor, with epidemics of venereal diseases and the like.

Thirteen Force Recon members landed on the deserted coast in the AAV7 and drove overland to reach the southern end of the capital. Of the 13 US Marines who successfully landed, 11 disembarked here. After disembarking the men, the AAV7 headed into the woods in the southern part of the capital.

"Well, let's go..."

A detachment of the 5th Force Reconnaissance Company, dressed in continental-style garb led by Sergeant Alberto Davis, the company commander, ventures into the dangerous underworld.

South District Slums

The slum where they were to proceed was filled with a foul stench. One of the team members involuntarily let out a complaint. Also, the way eleven large men are sneaking around in a tight group, there is something suspicious about them, and despite their disguises, they are occasionally stared at by the hoodlums who hang out all over the city.

"Aah! What are—"

"Stop. Don't make fun of me."

One of the troopers, uncomfortable with the goons' stare, tries to aim a gun back at them, but Sergeant Davis stopped him. Now is not the time to get into a tussle with such people. After walking for about 25 minutes, they arrived at the target building.

"We confirmed the target point. That's the Temple of Wilcock."

They arrived at a stone building about 70 meters high consisting of two pairs of towers. Its appearance was reminiscent of the famous Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Around the temple, a large number of soldiers were patrolling.

"Halt... state your identities?"

One of the soldiers stands in front of the Marines approaching the temple. The commanding officer, Sergeant Davis, stepped in front of them.

"We are sent by the Japanese, and we are here to see your leader."

He revealed their identity. The soldiers' eyes widen in surprise when they hear Davis' words.

"...We've been waiting for you! Come on, this way!"

The soldiers, who had been waiting for the arrival of the Japanese, lead these US Marines to the temple. Davis and his men followed their lead and entered the temple.

Temple of Wilcock Chapel

In addition to the numerous former Altian soldiers hiding in the temple, a man and woman dressed in luxurious, if not extravagant, clothing were standing directly beneath a statue at the far end of the chapel. It was easy to guess that they were the Princess and the Minister of Military Affairs. Sergeant Davis and his men move toward the back of the chapel and stand in front of Savia and Sitos.

"My name is Alberto Davis, and I am here as an emissary of the Japanese Army."

Sergeant Davis saluted and told Savia and Sitos who he is. The other members of the team followed him in saluting. To avoid confusion and explanations, they act as Japanese soldiers.

"My name is Sitos Sphinoid, Minister of Military Affairs of the Altian Empire. This is the Third Princess, Lady Savia Iliam."

After saying his own name, Sitos introduces Savia's background.
