April 1, 2029... On this day, the construction of a medical clinic by the Japanese government was finally completed in Lithianburg.

For the first month, people shunned the clinic as "an unknown facility built by foreigners in the Imperial Capital," but the fact that it was a clinic under the Emperor's patronage and the fact that the patient had previously come to the clinic with a serious case of pneumonia made it clear that the clinic was a place where people could come and go as they wished. After treating and curing a ducal nobleman, the nobility began to visit the clinic, and after the clinic's reputation grew, it began to receive a few patients here and there. About two months later, on June 7, five staff members from Japan arrived in Lithianburg aboard the amphibious assault ship Kojima as replacement staff for the clinic.

Red Cross Hospital, Lithianburg, Crossnellyard Empire

Hospital staff were gathering in the waiting area to welcome their new colleagues. In front of them stood five young people who looked a bit tired from their long journey.

"You must be the new staff sent from Japan. Welcome. I am the director, Shizune Nagaoka," a man addressed the five nervous newcomers.

"Y-yes, sir! Thank you very much!"

One of the newcomers, with a slight stammer, thanked the staff for their welcome.

"Then let's have you introduce yourselves... starting with you," Nagaoka said, pointing to the newcomer standing first on the far right in his view.

The young man who had been pointed began to explain his background. The names and duties of the five newcomers were well known to Nagaoka and the rest of the existing staff, however, as they had been informed from their home countries. In other words, this was a kind of initiation ceremony.

"My name is Genji Inosawa, a graduate of Nagasaki University. I am a dermatologist."

"I am Tokimasa Tahara, graduate of Shinshu University. I was a clinical technologist at the hospital where I used to work. As a laboratory technician, I will do my best to be of service to you."

"My name is Masami Kondo, a graduate of Teikyo University. I used to work in the pharmacy department at the hospital where I used to work."

"My name is Noriaki Nishio, a graduate of Yokohama City University. I am a urologist."

"My name is Saki Hayakawa, a graduate of Tokyo Medical and Dental University. I was an oral surgeon in Tokyo."

Each of the five staff members states their university and position. The gender breakdown was three men and two women. By the way, since this hospital was established by the Japanese government under contract to the Japanese Red Cross Society, most of the staff dispatched to the hospital are employees of the JRC, and the staff, including these five, previously worked at Red Cross hospitals in Japan.

"As soon as possible, you will be assigned to your duties tomorrow. The work we do here is very different from that in Japan. There is a possibility that you may encounter unknown diseases. Please do not be bound by the common sense you have learned up to now, but rather, think flexibly and with keen insight as you perform your duties."

Nagaoka gave his tips for working in a different world. The five new staff members are more and more determined after hearing these words. Nagaoka, watching them with satisfaction, pointed at one of the staff members and gives him a command.
