ARC 5 Prologue

-In another timeline-

It was now the tenth year of the new world. It was also ten times more agitating for Fortune Teller Sheng to watch, as year by year passed by without hope.

He had watched the earth getting healed at the expense of humankind approaching extinction. It was also reaching the state where the animal population was getting equal to the human population.

More animals benefited the survivors, where they got to kill them for food, but animals were also hunting for food to survive. It was not a guaranteed success for humans to win the fight against animals.

This new era had a new triangle relationship, with zombies the largest number, hunting humans as their food, which animals were being hunted by humans, or sometimes being hunted back.

"This world... is ending. Or is it a new beginning?" Master Sheng eyed the distance, which was also in the direction of the survivors' base.

Their Lord was getting stronger and his desire to completely eliminate any bugs that would pester him once he roamed the world would soon be achieved. But till now, he was still unclear about what the Lord wanted to do after killing all humans.

The survivors, with most of them relocated from Musihada Laboratory to Geum country which took more than two years of travel, could not defend against the Lord's troops with their enemies being Awakened people. What was more horrifying was that the Lord had moved all his group members to completely destroy the last survivor base that actively fighting against him.

There was no mercy at all in the Lord's actions.

But in the Lord's view, he had given the survivors his great respect for their strength by needing him to dispatch all his troops to deal with them. Even he himself had chosen Geum Country as the first place to go after regaining his freedom.

"Master Sheng, I couldn't stop the feeling of uneasiness the closer we got to that place," the little monk shifted his feet timidly.

"What will come, will come."

The monk became even more uneasy when Master Sheng said that with an expression of a person that had given up. He had followed Master Sheng for more than two decades, believing in his vision that he would help them fulfil their ambition.

"Are we... failing? That destined person... do they really exist?" The little monk whispered, staring at Master Sheng. His eyes were unconsciously pleading for Master Sheng to assure him that everything was fine.

"Everyone on the list was either dead or Awakened. But none of them is that noble person," Master Sheng concluded somberly.

Master Sheng pulled out a piece of yellow paper from his pocket and a short brush with red ink from another pocket. There was only one name left that was not struck off, which was Chen YiWen.

"He's not that person either? Maybe... maybe something is wrong and blocked you from sensing him?" The little monk asked anxiously.

"How I wish that to be true," Master Sheng lamented and moved his brush to strike off the last name.

Now, there was no name left on the list that was not struck off.

Master Sheng's bet failed and the Lord won.
