Mall Transaction

Lucille and I were en route to my next meeting at a privately owned mall built by the Rose family. I wore a leather jacket in the fight with the witch clan, but I took it off. Beneath it, I wore a cami body suit that hung low on my neckline.

"Um, Chaos- why are you stripping?" Lucille's face went up in flames, and her eyes were drawn to my breasts.
I smirked but answered anyways.
"We need to go a bit undercover for this meeting. We'll be around humans."

I removed my combat boots and jeans, replacing them with black sneakers and an oversized black hoodie that went to my thighs. It was the same hoodie I wore to pick up LuLu, who was at home now being cared for by Artemis.

"Azrail." After changing, I settled back into my seat, and he reopened his eyes only to retrieve dark sunglasses from his vest pocket. He handed them to me, and I placed them over my eyes.

"Are you done?" Lucille asked; she had placed her hands over her eyes when I started taking off my jeans. She's seen everything before; it wasn't as if I was genuinely naked.

"Not yet," I responded.
Azrail also reached into a separate pocket and handed me a black face mask.

"Why do you need all of that?" She peeked between her fingers as I put the mask over my ears and mouth.
"My eyes and teeth aren't normal."
With all that done, I immediately sank back into my seat and pulled the mask down.

"Oh, right. But won't you look more suspicious wearing that inside a mall?" She asked.
That is a good point.

"If they insist I take it off, I'll claim it's uh... cosplay? Is that what that is?" I questioned.
Humans tend to deny our existence anyways; they'll fill in the blanks to make our existence normal.

I grabbed a nail clipper and cut my talons short. Like animals, my talons contained some veins, so cutting them was painful. Once they started to bleed, I sealed the wound with my tongue. My fingers felt bare and vulnerable with the lack of weight and protection, but they would likely grow back in a few hours.

Now onto my hair. I manifested a pair of scissors in my hand and brought it up to my hair. That's when Lucille understood where I was going and spurred into action, quickly grabbing my hands as they approached my hair.

"Chaos! wait! Wait, are you going to cut your hair? Why would you do that!" She shrieked.

"It'll grow back in a day; I need it short for now." I gathered my hair in a single fist and began cutting it as Lucille cringed and held her hands out as if to stop me. I asked her to hold a mirror up for me as I cut it down unbearably short. It was until the strands could only reach halfway past my ear. I had cut almost all of my hair and given myself a hockey style resembling Azrail's.

"Azrail, what do you think of your son's new hairstyle." Juliet teased. I didn't intend to cut it so short, but I liked this length better anyways. I should try to find a way to keep my hair from regrowing so fast. My head also felt lighter and cooler.

Azrail opened his eyes, and his gaze flitted over my short hair as I focused on brushing the sides back. The curtain bangs remained, but it was long enough now that I could tuck that behind my ear. I wonder what they used to slow the process. I'm constantly busy, so I noticed this later than I would've liked.

Azrail had an amused look and then redirected his gaze back outside the window, having said nothing about my new look.

"Chaos, you have your dad's hairstyle now."
Lucille's finger combed my hair, and I gathered the fallen strands in a ball before melting it in my hands. It turned into sludge first and then into mist, like black dry ice. It slowly melted away, flowing through my fingers and onto my lap until I had completely reabsorbed it. I had to be careful that it would not return to my head and regrow.
