She Didnt Cry

I stood outside Darren's office; one hand posed to knock and the other holding Chaos' hand. She had a blank look on her face, as if she was bored or tired. She looked adorable in her overalls dress and red stripped shirt. I borrowed it from one of the younger kids in the dinning hall, but I think I might have to convince them to let her keep it.

I gathered the courage to knock, startling Chaos out of her thoughts presumably, because she finally looked at me then, as if trying to solve an unspoken riddle.

The Alpha opened his door.

*CHAOS' POV*

I didn't really want to meet her brother's. I only needed Lucille. There was no need for acquaintances and unnecessary names to remember. I was... happy when Lucille brought me a deer, and held my hair back. I felt safe too when she held me out of the shower. Wanted.

She knocked on the door and I looked at the nerve-wracked werewolf beside me. Her hand was clammy as it held mine, which I squeezed before bending down and kissing her cheek. She froze in place.

If it was possible for one's hands to get anymore sweaty, her's did. But I refused to let go. My eyes led me to gaze at the powerful alpha wolf that opened the double doors. He stood at 6'2" and had green eyes and Black hair like Lucille, he smiled at me. He had lighter skin than her though and a strong build that filled one side of the doorway.

I immediately decided I didn't like him. I didn't like the power that rolled off him, trying to intimidate me. It was all too familiar.

I narrowed my eyes and stared back into his. I could feel his wolf taking it as a challenge, though he tried to hide it. His smile faltered in some places before turning into a grimace. That was when everything went dark.
I was confused.
Then I felt Lucille next to my ear.

"Chaos, don't look into his eyes, you'll provoke his primal instincts", She whispered lovingly.

I felt frustrated, but listened nonetheless. I didn't want her to be mad at me. I nodded bitterly and kept my eyes low as she removed her hand from my eyes.

"Um, if you'll come in please, Chaos. Lucy". He held the door open and I saw two other people in the room. A stunning red head on the couch and a hazel-eyed boy next to her, both in front of a fireplace.

I let Lucille lead me inside the messy office and sat on the couch beside her, opposite the red-head girl and hazel-boy. The big man sat between the hazel-boy and the red-head. Red-head took her position at his side.

I looked at Lucille as she gathered my right hand. She attempted to wipe off the blood that i'd drawn when clenching my fists in frustration. Before she could soil her clothing, I pulled my hand back and licked my blood away. I continued to still hold her sweaty hand afterward. I stared at my toes in agitated silence.

Why did I have to be the one to look away?

I squeezed Lucille's hand in irritation and she squeeze back, telling me she understood. I then looked at the fireplace and admired the flickering of the velvet flames, wanting to touch them and see if they were as soft as they looked, or merely a façade to hurt me.

"So, um, introduce yourself Chaos." Lucille was trying to make conversation. Hazel-boy and red-head girl shared curious looks, while Big man had a serious look on his face.

"I'm Chaos. I'm 278 years old. I've killed 82 people." The room was dead silent. I was picking at the hem of my skirt, slouching. The couch felt nice, but it was leather and was sticking to my thighs. Lucille cleared her voice.

"Oh, right- Hey! Chaos." I looked at the Hazel-boy and he swallowed. "My name is Kai. I'm 19 and I never learned how to read".

Lucille smacked her face. I felt a little better with her here and could feel my body relax a bit from her presence alone. Hazel-boy took it as a gesture in recognition for his terrible joke.
