Mate Bond

"Your father has decided he'd like to meet Miss..." Duchess Ruby looked at me expectedly. I didn't answer and kept fiddling with the tulle of the cushions. I had come downstairs to grab a drink before heading to the pack Lucille was accepted into, unsuspectingly walking into a discussion between heir and Duchess.
"She prefers to go by, Chaos, mother", Valentine spoke up, earning a disdainful glare from her mother.
"I never asked you, did I?" She looked at her daughter with a hateful furrow of her brows. She fulfilled my expectations of a foul leader- not that I expected much to begin with, but she seemed to share my dislike for Valentine at the very least.
"No, mother. I'm sorry." Valentine bowed her head, her hair disguising her face. Stephen sat across from his mother around the island in the kitchen, his fingers tapping on teh screen of his cellular device. Lazarus was still napping in the Duchess' suite.

The duchess ignored her daughter's sincere bow and turned her attention to me. Maybe she thought currying my favor would get her back in good graces with the Grand Duke. If he cherished me so much, why did he abandon me and why has he not come here himself?
"Anyways... you must come with me to meet him."
"Where", I deadpanned. I thought perhaps I should humor her worthless attempt so that I might drain more information from her. The Grand Duchess gave me a withering glare for the improper address while I took a bag from the fridge, poking a hole into it with my finger. I procured a straw and slid it through that hole before licking the excess blood off my nail.

"To Canada", she hissed through gritted teeth. Hm, so that is where I must avoid. She had a very obvious aura about her and, as if she knew, she exerted those screams of danger on others. It wouldn't work with me, surely she must know that much, as a Grand Duchess. There's no way i'm going to Canada to meet some ancient vampire. With that in mind, I decided I wouldn't think much on it and proceeded to leave and meet Lucille. I walked out and heard a loud slap just as I exited the front door. The guards were waiting outside for me.

"We'll be driving you to the pack, Junior Duch-" Oliver begun. I knew this one as being a close advisor to the Duchess, like a secretary, as he followed her around and made her schedule.

As if I needed an escort- who was she trying to fool with this show of consideration.
"Unnecessary", I interjected. Lately i'd been receiving very proper and submissive attitudes from all the minor vampires of this coven, as well as the Duchess' personal guards.
"Miss, with all due respect..." and here it goes. I released an exasperated sigh and give him the bare minimum of my attention...
"The run would exhaust you", the male vampire said nervously, bowing his head in a respective manner. If he was afraid, he should act like it and stop putting up a brave front to question my intentions- however, there was some truth in what he asked of me.

"Hmm..."
I looked around until I found a suitable vehicle: A motorcycle- sleek, blue silent killer. I'd prefer if it were red, but perhaps I could get my own if I obtain some money. "Where are the keys for this bike?"

One of the male vampires dug hastily into his pocket and pulled out the key, unceremoniously tossing it to me. I caught it and slung my leg across the seat of the bike. I revved the engine and took off before they could hand me a pointless helmet. There was an unmarked and inconspicuous side road that led to the main one in front of the main mansion. The tires ripped the dirt from the ground, leaving a single trail of tracks in its wake as the speed guided me onto the path and eventually to the broad road.

I whizzed passed tall, looming trees, springing to life and whistling against the gentle breeze. I liked this sound, it reminded me of Lucille. She had a gentle voice that tingled my ears. She is whom I assume a siren would sound like. This natural voice made me feel similar to that of being with Lucille. I could not explain it fully.

She left in a hurry to 'get out of my hair', as she put it. I was given a small kiss and she jogged away, escorted by vampires no less. I nearly lost my mind thinking she was going to be surrounded by these revolting things. Lucille was capable of caring for herself, but just their proximity and their breath sharing her same air made me lethal...

I couldn't lose her, not again.
It's not reasonable but it's beyond my control to stop emotions that erupt from my memories and I hate not being in control of myself.

It was half an hour drive, but since seeing Lucille was my priority and soon enough, I arrived at the dirt walkway. The gates were barren with little security.

I turned off the engine and stepped off the bike. I felt this strange pull, a dream-like conscious pull somewhere but I ignored it, figuring I was hungry. My thoughts were interrupted by a low growl coming from the woods behind me, pass the road. I assumed it was border patrol, as it had been the case at Lucille's old pack. I held my hands up as a sign of surrender, but I was unexpectedly met with a tackle which knocked me to the ground.

I manage to force myself to 'surrender' and i'm attacked?
Unfortunately for this wolf, when I fight- it's to the death.
But this smell, this pull, it was familiar and distant, distracting me from my bloodlust. Lucille wouldn't appreciate if I killed someone in her new pack...

The wolf gnashed it's teeth at me, chomping down into my left arm and drawing streams of blood.
I couldn't kill this one, I reminded myself.

I pushed my arm deeper into its jaw until it was lodged against its throat. The wolf instinctively attempted to jump back, dislodging the jaws from my arm, I took that opportunity to grab the wolf's muzzle, clamping its jaw shut with my bare strength; Not too hard that it would hurt it, but enough that the wolf thrashed about in my clutches, panicked.

Is it so hard to train one's own subordinates around here? I had serious doubts about this pack. If I was a normal person, the blood loss alone would be cause for death, much less the bacteria swarming the wolf's mouth. The thought made me grimace in disgust as I held said injury to my face. It was already healing, but slower than it should be, meaning I needed more sustenance.  Here's hoping the wolf attacked me because I was a vampire, and not just an intruder.

From afar, I heard the trampling of feet approaching the solemn iron-wrought gates. I looked towards their entrance, spotting Lucille running at full speed at me. I shoved the wolf away by its jaw last minute to catch the panting goddess.

It was safe here, a voice like emotion gently crept into my heart, easing whatever pain and hurt I felt. Her chocolatey brown eyes melted whatever vengeful thoughts I held dear; For once, a sigh escaped my lips. She caught it between her own and forced passion to flood my body. A kiss was all I needed apparently, to forget the demonic wolf that attacked me.

So this was a mate bond, huh?
Lucille pulled away and carefully nursed my arm with gentle handling. She tore the bottom of her shirt to suppress the bleeding. I was too caught up in admiring her to care much.

"I missed you", I whispered. Thankfully, she heard, because I don't think i'd ever say that again. Lucille pecked my cheek and laughed nervously.

"So you're Chaos? Our Beta's mate?" A strong female voice spoke. At first, it was physically impossible for me to tear my eyes away from Lucille, who dominated every purpose of my visit. When i spared a slight glance, there was a woman with short black hair standing at the embrace of the wide gates. Beside her were two wolves, supposedly escorting her as bodyguards.
They stared at my outfit, which contrasted greatly to their neutral, nude colour scheme. My attire consisted of black leather pants and matching long sleeved bralette.

The demonic wolf had inexplicably calmed down, sitting with its neck lowered and tail tucked between its legs; a sign of submission. I'm guessing she's the Luna.
"You are?" I asked coldly.
"I'm the Luna of the Polar Moon pack, it's nice to meet you. Unfortunately, the Alpha was unable to greet you properly as he's currently in a meeting abroad."

"Understood." I answered tautly. Lucille tucked her head beneath my chin and wrapped her arms around my shoulder, my own braced at her waist.

"Are you injured? I'm truly sorry, Mika isn't very fond of vampires, nor acquaintance with any", The luna continued.

"That's no excuse, Luna, we're not wild, we shouldn't always give into our instincts, otherwise we make mistakes we don't mean to", Lucille interjected. She gave the wolf, Mika, a glare that caused her to wither beneath Lucille's heated stare.

"That's why you're such a suitable Beta, Lucille, we expect much from you", the Luna added, giving her an approving grin.
"Thank you, Luna", Lucille gave a short bow. She then resumed to hug me tightly.
