just noticed that I posted the same chapter twice. thanks for letting me know. this is the new chapter.

-HIM-

"I didn't know assassinations were considered civil," I provoked. My words made Theoron tenser. He was fighting tooth and nail with himself to keep his hands to himself. "Or maybe that's your definition of civil," I added, seeing his hands were tied. He was looking at me as if he wanted to not only say a lot of things to me but also rip my head apart.

It made me smirk because all he could do was think about those things to me. It would not be very smart on his part if he ended up doing something because it could come at a very high cost. On the other hand, I didn't have anything to lose here.

"It would be wise for us not to go beyond this," He finally declared, almost chewing his words out. Though it did nothing to rage burning in his eyes. Instead, it fuelled the fire even more.

"It's good to see that we can still agree on something," I gave him a venous smile. I could see the humiliation in his eyes, but the best part was that he couldn't do much about it but take it from me. It satisfied me to see him realise his place.

"I am glad you think so," He said, patting his shoulder. I could feel the tension in his body to the touch, which made me smile harder. He was burning from the inside. "I'm looking forward to being invited again,"

"I'm glad to hear that," He gritted, "But I'm afraid next time our relations might not be as warm and vibrant," He was still holding his glare as he spoke so sweetly.

"We can work on that," I told him darkly. He nodded, but he didn't care either way. "Before leaving, I would like to invite you to my place,"

"I would love that," He smiled, "I'm sure I might find some interesting things there as well,"

I laughed and patted him aggressively again. "I assure you, you will," I told him before our tense meeting finally ended. However, I wasn't done yet. I needed to see his Royal Advisor. I wasn't going to let him slip. I didn't have to look for him at all. The old noble was already waiting for me outside in the grand courtyard with a few guards on his side.

He came prepared. I couldn't help but think to myself.

"I was looking for you," I said. My voice slightly grew more profound as I spoke.

"I know," He said. "I have been waiting to meet you alone," His snake-like eyes gleamed with cunningness.

"I don't see you're alone," I nodded at his guards, clenching my fists. My wolf was starting to take over me gradually.

"I'm not foolish," He said. "I know a mutt like you can rip me apart easily,"

"Do you think I will do that to you?" I asked with an evil smile. "That's the least I will do to you,"

"Why such rage just over a few worthless ladies-in-waiting? You could have had a princess," He laughed mockingly.

"I could ask the same of you. What's so threatening about a few worthless ladies-in-waiting to send fifty assassins to kill them?"

"I can do that to anyone who stands a threat to the Emperor. I wonder why you care so much about a lowly maid. I've heard you have been seeing one of them," He said in a sinister tone. His evil eyes gleamed as he added, "Could it be that one of them is your mate? I could have taken two birds out with a stone," He laughed.

It was the moment when I snapped, and without wasting a second, I lunged at him. His guards instantly came my way, erecting a wall between us. I dealt with them while keeping an eye on that old man. I wanted to see him dead today, even if I had to fight all the palace guards.

I effortlessly took down the handful of guards he had bought to protect himself before I went for him. He was already halfway through the grand courtyard, running for his life. I could see the surprise and fear in his eyes. He wasn't expecting me to be so fast.

I caught him and pinned him to the ground, holding his neck. He reached for my neck to choke me, but his old, ageing hands weren't worth much.

"Don't worry. I will not kill you so easily. There wouldn't be any fun in that," I growled, squeezing his neck and instantly saw his skin turning pale. "I wonder where I should start," I growled, extending my claws. As soon as he saw it, a short shriek erupted from his lips and for the first time, I saw terror in his eyes even though I hadn't even begun with him.

"I was going to take your eyes out first, but I like seeing the terror in them," I growled, running my claw across his face before stopping at his ear. "I wonder how this will make you feel," I said while pulling his ear until it separated from his skull and came out along with the skin. He screamed in pain as I continued doing the same to his other ear. I was having fun, but unfortunately, this didn't last long.

While I was busy torturing him, more guards came, and I was being hurled before I could care any severe damage to the royal advisor. But I could still hear him in agonising pain. I was about to take the guards down and go after him again when I noticed Theoron.

"You dare hurt my Royal Advisor!" He roared with murder in his eyes. "I challenge you to fight me!"

"Finally," I muttered, turning to Theoron, ready to taste some royal blood.
