MARTA IGNORED THE HUSHED WORDS from Steve and cautiously entered the room with her gun aimed and at the ready. Marta saw the man responsible for the noise strapped to a table. It was him. It had to be. "Sergeant. Three-two-five-five-seven. Marta. Lieutenant." It was Bucky. Steve must have come to the same conclusion, because he pulled Marta with him to the table.
"Bucky?" Steve asked, but Bucky was far too out of it to answer.
"Oh, my God." Marta muttered, looking at his condition. She put her gun away and placed a hand on her brother's face, gently tapping his cheek with her hand as Steve broke the straps that bound him to the table.
Bucky's eyes began to slowly flash from Marta, and then to Steve. "Is that..." He mumbled to himself.
"It's me. It's us." Steve said.
"It's Marta and Steve." Marta said, inspecting Bucky's body as he continued to look between them.
"Marta? Steve?" Bucky said, leaning into his sister's soft touch. She was always so gentle when he was unwell. Only when he was unwell.
"Come on." Steve said, helping Bucky stand up.
"Marta. Steve." Bucky repeated, but it wasn't a question anymore. Steve pulled him off of the table, stabilizing him on the ground.
Steve, for the first time, was taller than Bucky. Marta was now the same height as him. "We thought you were dead." Steve said, overjoyed.
Marta helped hold Bucky up, while Steve held his shoulder. "I thought you were smaller." Bucky said, looking Steve up and down. He turned to Marta. "Why is your hair longer?"
Marta chuckled, but neither she nor Steve could answer, as guns were firing throughout the factory. Steve and Marta each got a glance at a large map in the room. "Come on." Steve said, holding up one side of Bucky while Marta took the other.
They hobbled through the room, not getting far before Bucky began to ask questions. "What happened to you?" He asked Steve.
"I joined the army. Mar trained me."
Steve said.Bucky looked at Marta, beginning to walk on his own. "Where's your friend?" Marta could only assume he meant Thomas.
"Back at base, hopefully." Marta responded.
The trio walked through the hallways of the isolation ward. "Did it hurt?" Bucky asked Steve.
"A little." The Captain admitted.
"Hey, I did it too." Marta said, walking alongside her brother, slightly behind Steve.
"Why?" He asked her, clearly frowning upon her judgement."
Marta shrugged. "Why not?"
Bucky and Marta caught up to Steve. "Is this permanent?"
"So far."
No one could say anything else, as a series of explosions in the factory went off all around the three. They continued walking until they found an escape route, but Schmidt was waiting for them on the other side.
All around them fire raged, and Schmidt had planned for that. "Captain America! And the Ghost Pilot! How exciting!" Schmidt boomed, standing next to the short man Marta and Steve didn't go after. "I am a great fan of your films!" Schmidt began walking towards the catwalk, as Steve the same. Marta stayed with Bucky, holding his shoulder.
