MARTA FLEW THE QUINJET TO Wakanda. She had called T'Challa to let him know they were coming, and the King prepared accordingly. The journey to Wakanda was quiet. Steve used to sit up front with Marta when she flew, but now, Natasha took his spot. She had taken her ring off. Steve noticed it instantly. Her ring was off, but his remained on. "We're entering the barrier." Marta announced to the team, the jet rocking for a moment before she stabilized it.

"Excited to see Bucky?" Natasha asked to make conversation, loading her guns.

Marta shrugged. "I saw him a couple months ago, talked to him last night." Marta answered coldly, gaze focused on the Wakandan landscape before her. She loved Wakanda.

The conversation was over as Marta landed the jet, the team making their final preparations before exiting the plane. Marta grabbed her favorite gun and filled her utility belt and thigh holsters. She was ready. Marta led the team out of the quinjet, refusing to walk beside her soon to be ex-husband. "My friend." T'Challa said as Marta reached him.

"Hi." Marta smiled, hugging T'Challa gratefully. He had done so much for her.

Steve stepped towards T'Challa as Marta backed away. "Seems like I'm always thanking you for something." he said, shaking the king's hand.

From behind her, Marta saw Bruce clearing his throat and bowing to T'Challa. "What are you doing?" Rhodey asked, Bruce looking up at him in horror.

"Uh, we don't do that here." T'Challa stopped Bruce, and Rhodey snickered.

They started walking. "Where's your sister?" Marta asked T'Challa, always happy to see Shuri.

Okoye answered. "The Princess is in her lab." she said, looking at Marta's gun in awe.

"So how big of an assault should we expect?" T'Challa asked as he lead the team towards Shuri's lab.

"Uh, sir, I think you should expect quite a big assault." Bruce spoke quickly, placing himself between Steve and Marta, which Marta was grateful for.

"How we looking?" Natasha asked the king, hoping they had given him enough time to gather resources.

T'Challa shrugged. "You will have my Kingsguard, the Border Tribe, the Dora Milaje, and–" he began, pointing at something coming at them.

"And a semi-stable 100-year-old man." Bucky said with a smile that Marta could tell was real and true. Behind him, Ayo led Wanda and Vision towards Shuri's lab.

Marta hugged him quickly with a bright smile. She could see him every day, hug him every day, and it still wouldn't make up for all the time they had lost. When Bucky placed two arms around Marta, she stepped back with raised eyebrows. "You had one arm two months ago. What, did you grow it back, or something?" Marta asked, her eyes landing on the incredibly technologically advanced arm that Bucky had.

He rolled his eyes. "It's vibranium. Shuri made it," Bucky said, pretending to hit his sister, but she caught his fist, observing the arm. "Why didn't you call and say you were coming?" he asked, trying not to make eye contact with anyone else on the team. He was ashamed at what he had done two years ago. Behind the brother and sister, Bruce had wide eyes, asking Natasha numerous questions. He had missed a lot.

"Thought I'd surprise you." Marta shrugged, and Bucky smiled, hugging her once more for good measure.

Bucky turned to Steve, embracing him. "How you been, Buck?" Steve asked in no hurry, deciding not to interrupt his reunion with Marta.

Bucky shrugged. "Uh, not bad, for the end of the world." he said with a smile.

Marta pushed her gun into her brother's hands. "Here." she said, placing the rifle in Bucky's care.

Recognizing the rifle as Marta's favorite gun, Bucky raised his eyebrows while they all began walking to Shuri's lab. "Why do I get the privilege of operating your favorite gun?" Bucky asked in a mocking tone. Those who knew of Marta's favorite gun were surprised she was giving it up.

"Dad's death date present?" Marta stammered as the pitch to her voice raised at the end of her sentence, making her words up on the fly.

"Dad died in December, but I appreciate the thought." Bucky said, and Marta shrugged. She tried not to think about their father's death at all. It was still painful, even almost ninety years later.

In Shuri's lab, after embracing Marta, Shuri got right to work on Vision. Marta, Sam and Bucky posted up outside the lab, keeping an eye on the situation in Wakanda, preparing for anything. Bucky kept looking at Marta's bare left ring finger. She noticed him doing so, watched him ponder whether he would ask her about it or not. "You can ask, Jamie." she said quietly, Sam tuning into the conversation.

Bucky sighed quietly. "Where's your ring, Mar?" he asked tentatively. Bucky didn't like seeing his sister's marriage crumble the way it had been. He had been waiting for Marta and Steve to finally be happy together since they were little kids.

"I took it off. Finally gave him the papers. It's over." Marta said, her watch scanning for explosives, eager to know the second they were under attack.

Sam glanced at Bucky. "He didn't sign them yet. Or take his ring off," Sam spoke, and Marta sighed. Steve was always making Marta's life difficult. But before she could respond, an alarm sounded throughout the building. Marta looked up, seeing ships descending towards the kingdom. "Hey, Cap, we got a situation here." Sam alerted Steve as Rhodey, in his suit, joined the three.

They watched as the many ships coming towards the palace quickly all blew up upon impact with the barrier. "God, I love this place." Bucky said, his childish grin identical to his little sister's.

"Yeah, don't start celebrating yet, guys. We got more incoming outside the dome." Rhodey said, and Marta's watch filled with gadgets located the many ships.

"There's over a thousand of them." she said with worry, watching as the numbers kept increasing, and the ships kept landing. There was no time to come up with a plan. They just had to fight, and fight hard. Marta pulled her hood up over her head, her mask over her eyes, preparing to disappear into the mist, like the ghost she never got a chance to be.

"Lieutenant, we have something waiting for you." T'Challa said, arriving in his suit, his guards beginning to evacuate the city.

Marta's eyes widened. "Please say it's a plane. Please say it's a plane." she muttered hopefully.

T'Challa smiled and pointed to a fighter jet. "Shuri finished it this morning." he spoke before he continued with his preparations, leaving Marta to discover her jet gleefully.

"This is the best thing I've ever seen." Marta said to her grinning brother, making her way over to her plane, uncovering everything about it. She was ready to fight and win, because her jet had vibranium weapons. Marta was absolutely done with fighting and wars, so once Thanos was taken care of, she was taking a very long sabbatical, in Wakanda.
