✧ 𝟤𝟢𝟣𝟪, 𝗎𝗉𝗌𝗍𝖺𝗍𝖾 𝗇𝖾𝗐 𝗒𝗈𝗋𝗄 ✧ONCE TONY WAS HOOKED UP to an IV that nourished him, and the new hero named Carol Danvers was introduced, what remained of the team settled in the living room. Rhodey pulled up holographic images of the census governments of the world had recorded in order to see who had lived and who had died. Steve leant against a table with his broad arms crossed, Marta standing beside him, her own arms crossed over her chest.
Pictures of those who had died at Thanos's hand flashed around the room, Fury among them. Marta's breath stilled when she saw Bucky's picture move before her eyes. It still didn't feel real. "It's been 23 days since Thanos came to Earth." Rhodey said solemnly.
Steve saw Marta's face and placed his hand on her lower back. "World governments are in pieces. The parts that are still working are trying to take a census. And it looks like he did... he did exactly what he said he was gonna do. Thanos wiped out fifty percent of all living creatures." Natasha said smoothly, trying not to let her heartbreak show.
The face of Peter Parker in front of Tony's eyes clearly affected him. Marta knew how close they had been. "Where is he now? Where?" Tony asked, seated in a wheelchair.
"We don't know. He just opened a portal and walked through." Steve answered, emotionless.
Tony looked at Thor, who was sitting silently on a bench, sullen and deep in thought. He hadn't spoken a word in the near-month since they lost. "What's wrong with him?" Tony asked, glasses over his eyes.
Rocket shrugged. "Oh, he's pissed. He thinks he failed. Which of course he did, but you know there's a lot of that's going around, ain't there?" the raccoon muttered, sitting on the floor.
"Honestly, until this exact second, I thought you were a Build-A-Bear." Tony said to Rocket, Marta leaning into Steve's palm.
"Maybe I am." Rocket said in defeat.
Steve's fingers rubbed gently on Marta's back. "We've been hunting Thanos for three weeks now. Deep Space scans, and satellites, and we got nothing. Tony, you fought him." he shifted his gaze to his former friend.
Tony feigned surprise. "Who told you that? I didn't fight him. No, he wiped my face with a planet while the Bleecker Street Magician gave away the store. That's what happened. There was no fight. He's unbeatable." Tony said snarkily.
"Did he give you any clues, any coordinates, anything?" Steve pressed, Marta looking at his warrily.
Tony spluttered, nearly everyone sighing. He pointed at Steve, a bowl of food in front of him. "I saw this coming a few years back. I had a vision. I didn't wanna believe it. Thought I was dreaming." he spoke.
Steve stood up straight, detaching himself from his wife. "Tony, I'm gonna need you to focus." Steve moved towards Tony and Marta looked at Natasha, worried for what was about to happen.
"And I needed you. As in past tense. That trumps what you need. It's too late buddy. Sorry. You know what I need?" Tony seethed, standing up. He pushed things off the table with a clatter, Marta wincing at the sudden noise. "I need to shave. And I believe I remember telling all youse–"
Tony ripped off his IV. "Tony, Tony, Tony!" Rhodey said to his best friend, stressed.
"Alive, brainwashed and otherwise what we needed was a suit of armor around the world! Remember that? Whether it impacted our precious freedoms or not, that's what we needed!" Tony ranted angrily.
