MARTA WENT TO THE SMITHSONIAN alone one afternoon after flying a quick mission. Sam had given up the shield, and she wanted to see the way Steve's retirement was being honored. It had taken some time and convincing from Steve for Marta to accept Sam's decision. Bucky did not approve of the decision, and while Marta didn't either, she was at peace with it.

Steve had given the shield to Sam, and it was Sam's choice of what to do with it. Marta walked around the museum, a hat low on her head. Without her hood and mask on, it was tricky for her to be recognized, and she liked it that way. The public didn't need to know about her and Steve's retired life. Marta and Steve had kept Steven, Sarah and Winnie so under wraps that practically no one outside of the Avengers even knew they existed. It was safer for them that way.

When Marta saw all that she needed to see in the Captain America and Ghost exhibit, she went home. Because she had her hero waiting for her in their perfect life. She flew her jet quickly, and by the time she got home, Steve already had dinner ready. "You are perfect, did you know that?" Marta said as she hugged Steve from behind, her cheek pressed into his shoulder blade.

Steve smiled, turning around and taking his wife into his arms, kissing her head. "Steven's been suspiciously quiet for a while." he said after a moment, and Marta looked up at him.

"I'll go check on, get him ready to eat. Girls are sleeping?" Marta pressed a kiss to Steve's lips, breaking apart from him.

He nodded, and Marta went upstairs to find Steven playing with his toys quietly and peacefully in his room. "Hi, Mama!" Steven said when he noticed his mother, abandoning his toys and rushing over to her. Since the twins were born a little over three months prior, Marta tried to prioritize her toddler just as much as her infants.

Marta picked him up with ease. "How was your day, little soldier?" Marta asked, gently poking Steven's dimple between his eyes. Sarah had the same one.

Steven then went on and on about what he, his father and his sisters had done. Rhodey had called to talk to both Steve and Steven, leaving a message for Marta that she would return after the kids went to bed. Rhodey and Bruce had come out to meet their nieces, adoring them instantly like everyone did. Marta put Steven down and he went downstairs to wash up for dinner while Marta collected her sleeping angels.

She went into Sarah's room, picking the older twin up, cradling her for a moment before going next store to Winnie's room, holding her second daughter in her other arm. Neither girl stirred, feeling perfectly safe with their mother. Downstairs, Marta, Steve and Steven ate dinner, Sarah and Winnie sleeping in their bassinets beside the table. "Come here, princess." Steve said, picking up Sarah to feed her as Marta fed Winnie.

In the middle of the night, Marta woke up from her safe haven that was Steve's broad arms, hearing Winnie stir before the monitor even picked up her crying. Marta rubbed at her eyes and sat up, kissing the scruff on Steve's jaw as she pulled on one of his shirts, walking down the hall to get Winnie just as soon as she started crying once she grabbed her cell phone, in case Bucky called. "Hi, sunshine." Marta cooed quietly, lifting Winnie into her arms.

They went downstairs, Winnie calming down as Marta sat on the couch with her, feeding her a bottle. Her phone buzzed, as Marta expected, and she picked up the incoming call from her brother. "Did I wake you up?" Bucky asked instantly before Marta could even speak.

"No, I'm up with Winnie. Was it a nightmare?" Marta answered, her baby grabbing onto her finger, forcing a smile from her lips. Marta loved just looking at her girls. They were born from her, and that bond was so precious,
