MARTA FOLLOWED STEVE THROUGH THE hallways of Peggy's nursing home. Steve had previously warned Marta of Peggy's worsening dementia, and how she often forgot that Steve had come back from the ice. "I know she'll be happy to see you, Mar." Steve said, glancing at Marta through his fake glasses.

"I hope so." Marta said as she walked beside Steve, following behind him as he knocked on the open door.

"Peggy? It's Steve," He spoke, and Marta could hear Peggy telling them to come in. "I brought someone to see you." Steve walked further into the room, Marta concealed behind him.

The elderly woman sat up in her bed. "Who?" Peggy asked, fixing her graying hair. Marta smiled, because Peggy always demanded perfection.

Steve stepped slightly to the left and Marta took her navy blue hat off, smoothing out the top of her hair. "Hi, Peg. It's Marta." Marta smiled, watching as Peggy's face contorted into one of recognition.

"Marta? You came back?" Peggy asked, tears rimming her eyes.

Sitting in the chair beside Peggy's bed opposite Steve, Marta gently took Peggy's hand. "Of course I came back. You know I'd never stay away for long." Marta smiled. Steve had told her to try to keep conversation light with Peggy and avoid confusing topics. Peggy didn't need to know everything.

Peggy squeezed Marta's hand, tears falling. "I missed you, so much. We thought you were dead." The woman said, as Marta let her eyes fall to the pictures of Peggy's life around her room. Marta smiled when she a saw a photo of her and Peggy working on mission plans in Howard's lab. They were laughing at something Peggy had said.

"We found her a few weeks ago. We're living in New York." Steve said. He never imagined that he would be in the same room as Peggy and Marta ever again. Steve could clearly see how happy Peggy was.

Peggy wiped her tears. "Have you gotten together again? Our radio picked up your conversation during that last mission." Peggy recalled. She was forgetting more and more these days, but the British woman would never forget the final mission.

Steve's cheeks flushed red, and he failed horribly at hiding it. "We're, uh, just going slow. We're focusing on getting Marta up to speed with the new world." He said, making Marta chuckle quietly at his awkwardness.

Rolling her eyes, Peggy turned towards Marta. "He's so dramatic." She teased, giving Marta's hand another affectionate squeeze.

"He always has been." Marta returned the teasing, winking at Steve across Peggy's bed.

"I'm focusing on you, my dearest friend. You're home now. What are you going to do?" Peggy asked, coughing quietly. Marta handed her a cup of water as she formulated her response.

"I don't know. I think, going on missions would be helpful. Maybe I'll fly planes again." Marta shrugged. She had been focusing so much about the next time she would snap and try to kill Steve that she hadn't even thought of what she would do now that she was out and in the world.

Peggy smiled. "You'll find something. You always make it work." The woman promised, exchanging words with both Steve and Marta for a few more minutes.

Marta once more gave Peggy her water as she coughed harshly. Peggy leant back on her pillows, her eyes widening when she saw Steve and Marta sitting on either side of her bed. "Steve? Marta? You're back? You're together again!" Peggy said, shock overwhelming her crippling body.
