✧ 𝟤𝟢𝟤𝟥, 𝗎𝗉𝗌𝗍𝖺𝗍𝖾 𝗇𝖾𝗐 𝗒𝗈𝗋𝗄 ✧INSTANTLY, EVERYONE RUSHED TO BRUCE as he collapsed. "Bruce!" Steve yelled, he and Marta getting to him first. Clint kicked the gauntlet away and Marta's eyes widened when she saw how severe Bruce's radiation burns were.
"Don't move him." Tony said, using a freezing agent from his suit to stabilize Bruce's arm.
Bruce grabbed onto Marta's arm, breathing heavily. "Did it work?" he asked through his pain as the doors to the compound opened.
Thor was right beside Steve and Marta. "We're not sure. It's over. It's okay." Thor said to comfort his friend.
The windows were open, and despite herself, Marta stood up, her curiosity overtaking her. Scott had the same idea. Marta heard birds calling, saw plants and trees in the dead spaces that had been left by the blip. The birds chirped. Marta hadn't heard birds sing in five long years. Clint's phone rang, and Marta's heart stopped. "It worked." she said in a whisper.
Scott smiled. "Guys, I think it worked." he said, loud enough for the team to hear. Marta almost cried from sheer happiness. Everyone was coming home, everyone that they had lost. They were coming home.
But a shadow covered the compound, and an aerial missile strike was underway, the explosives coming from a huge ship in the air. As the team tumbled deep underground from the destruction, Marta realized something that could've killed her. Her entire life was in that compound, her son's entire life. All of his pictures, their things, everything was gone.
Marta rolled onto her back, hand instantly flying to her stomach. She coughed, trying to sit up, but a pile of rubble fell onto her, trapping her. "Oh, for the love of God." Marta muttered through her teeth, pushing the heavy concrete off of her, only causing more strong metals and materials to further trap her. Marta knew she had to keep fighting, so she did.
Rhodey was on the comms, asking for help, but Marta had lost her earpiece somewhere along the way. She was alone. Well, not really. "Marta?" Clint asked, and Marta craned her neck, searching for Clint.
"Clint?" Marta asked in surprise, not expecting to see him.
Clint rushed over to her, pulling off the rubble that he could lift. "Are you okay?" Clint asked, concerned.
Marta rolled her eyes, chucking metal beams off of her body. "Yeah, I'm great." she muttered, finally getting herself free.
When she pulled the last chunk of concrete off of her chest, Clint helped her stand up, noticing how out of breath she was, and the way her hand rested right on her stomach. "What's wrong?" Clint questioned, shining a light he had around the area they were in, trying to find a way out.
With a sigh, Marta pulled a sharp piece of shrapnel from her calf. "Nothing, nothing. I'm just kind of pregnant." Marta announced quietly. Marta hadn't wanted to tell anyone else before she told Steve, but in case something awful were to happen, she figured it wouldn't have been a bad idea that Clint knew.
Clint's eyes widened as they started walking, trying to get out from wherever they were. "You're pregnant? And Cap let you do all of this?" Clint asked, surprised and concerned.
"Well, he doesn't exactly know. Only Nat did. She was with me when I found out." Marta explained, taking a brief moment to pray for her baby's safety.
They walked through an underground tunnel, and Clint was about to respond to Marta's words when he found the gauntlet lying in rocks. "They're all still here." Clint referred to the stones, dusting the gauntlet off.
There was a low growl, and Marta traced the sound to behind her and Clint. Marta turned, and Clint released an arrow down the tunnel they had come from, the light revealing a slew of Outriders waiting to attack them. "Oh, great." Marta muttered. She pulled her mask back up to her nose and tossed an explosive down the tunnel to give her and Clint more time.
Clint grabbed the gauntlet and they started running, the aliens chasing them. They had to find the others, figure out what had happened. Clearly, Thanos was back, but no one knew how. Someone had betrayed them, and Marta had a feeling that it was Nebula. The aliens weren't giving up, so as Marta and Clint ran with the stones, they defended themselves.
Clint set up two explosive arrows, and just as they went off, she tossed a bomb behind her head. The blast sent them forwards and only set the aliens on fire. Clint attached himself to a grappling hook arrow, grabbing Marta's wrist as they soared upward, allowing her to shoot the aliens from up above.
They made it to a new level, and Clint sliced an alien in half as Marta shot down the last one. Clint flopped onto his back, groaning in pain, and Marta panted, utterly exhausted. "How's the baby?" Clint asked, Marta lying near him.
She craned her neck to look at her stomach. "Feels fine." Marta released her neck, trying to catch her breath,
Nebula appeared, walking calmly towards them. "Oh, hey. I know you." Clint panted. Nebula bent down and he gave her the gauntlet.
Nebula stood up with the gauntlet. "Father," Nebula said, both Marta and Clint lifting their heads, eyes wide. "I have the stones."
Marta finally realized that this wasn't the Nebula she knew. This was the Nebula from the past, where Rhodey had gone. "What?" Clint blurted out in alarm.
As 2014 Nebula stepped on Clint's chest, Marta attempted to fire at her, but Nebula deflected the shot and the bullet landed in Marta's chest, dangerously close to her heart. She passed out almost instantly, ears ringing. When Clint crawled away from the aliens, he dragged Marta's body with him, watching in awe as her enhanced body began to heal from the wound.
She woke up with a gasp when present Nebula shot at 2014 Nebula. "Oh, man, that sucked." Marta muttered, dragging herself to her feet as Clint grabbed the gauntlet. Marta had to get to Steve. She knew he needed her, and she needed him. They had to get to him.
Clint decided that it was more important to him that Marta get to Steve than for her to protect the stones. He, Gamora and Nebula could do it. So, Marta was off, running as fast as she had ever run, fighting to get above ground. Marta didn't know how, or if she was making it up in her mind, but she could tell Steve needed her help.
When Marta punched her way through rubble, using bombs to help her, she saw the greatest thing she had ever seen. It was like a dream that had finally come true. Everyone they had lost, they were all back. T'Challa, Shuri and Okoye were leading the Wakandan army into the battlefield, facing off against Thanos and his Outriders. Sam was there, Peter Parker was there, Wand and Pepper had arrived too, and when Marta squinted, she saw her brother. Scott, the size of a skyscraper, emerged from the rubble with Bruce, Rocket and Rhodey. Thor and Tony were on the battlefield. Steve was bloody and injured, but he was standing strong. Everyone was alive.
"Avengers!" Steve called to them all. No one had seen Marta yet.
Steve extended his arm, and Marta saw Thor's original hammer fly at him. She had always been curious about the weapon, so she cut in front of Steve, taking the hammer into her own grip. Thor's eyes widened in delight that both she and Steve were worthy. "Assemble." Marta said, launching the lightning-consumed hammer at Thanos, as the final battle began.
