When Emma Falls In Love by Taylor Swift

11/29/20

Will's POV

"So, can you just tell me how you feel about her?" Stephanie said as we drove. We were driving back from the store with whatever groceries Harmony sent us to get.

"Well, I'm definitely falling for her, Steph. Make no doubt about that. We're just in two different spots and I'm not gonna push it. If it happens it will, I know it. Plus she's really into Jeremiah so." I said with a shrug.

"He's not good for her, I know it. She complains about him more than she says the good stuff. Like she tells me everything and the amount of complaints out weights the like not complaints?"

"Yeah, let's go with not complaints, Steep."

"You need to stop calling me that." She laughed.

"I never will." I laughed back.

"Whatever." She said between laughs. I parked in my usual parking spot and we walked upstairs. When we got inside, I saw an unfamiliar guy sitting at the counter. He was laughing while talking to Harmony was working her way around the kitchen.

"We're back." I said, setting the groceries on the counter and kissing the top of Harmony's head. She smiled up at me and I smiled back.

"Dude, what the fuck." The guy said, a pissed off look on his face.

"Jeremiah, it's fine." Harmony brushed off.

"Go sit, i'll put it away." I told her.

"Will, It's fine." She said, trying to grab the bags. I held them out of her reach and she stared at me with an unamused look. "Fine, fine."

"Good girl." I said with a smile. She flipped me off as she sat next to Jeremiah. I flipped her off back and put away the groceries. "What are we making for dinner?"

"Chicken Alfredo?" She asked. I knew it was her favorite and I nodded, already having picked up the needed ingredients for it, just in case.

"YES!" Stephanie yelled.

"I actually don't like chicken alfredo. What about something else?" Jeremiah asked.

"Oh, yeah that's fine." Harmony said, smiling at Jeremiah when he smiled down at her. I saw the look in her eyes and smiled, knowing she was happy.

I know she'll fall for him, I just hope he doesn't fuck with her.

"Anything specific you want, mate?" I asked, finishing putting everything away.

"Nah, i'm game for anything." He said, I just- does he not understand that he shot down Harmony's favorite option?

"So Alfredo?" I joked. He rolled his eyes and obviously didn't take it as such.

"Ha!" Stephanie laughed loudly. I stifled a laugh at the loud noise that echoed.

"Anything, but that, mate." He said through a clenched jaw.

"Dude, it was a joke." Stephanie commented.

"I'll just order pizza." I said, walking off to Harmony's room to make the call.

"Why is he going to your room?!" I heard him try to whisper and fail.

"Dude, they're friends, chill." Stephanie defended.

"I don't like him."

"Well I do, sucks to suck." Harmony said. I smiled and made the call. When I finished the call, I sat down and exhaled a deep breath. I saw my hoodie still laid on the pillows from a month ago when I left it here and she denied she ever had it.

"Hey, I'm sorry about him." Harmony said, walking in and sitting next to me.

"Dont apologize for someone else. He doesn't like me and that's fine, I don't need his approval. And you don't either, by the way." I said, nudging her gently.

"I know, I just like him." She whispered, laying her head on my shoulder. I laced our fingers together and sighed.

"I know you do."

"I love you, you know." She whispered. The words both broke me and made me happy.

"I love you too, Davis." I said, kissing her temple gently. I got up silently, letting our hands fall and walking out if the room. "Pizza should be here soon."

I felt like I was an unwanted guest all night.

Harmony kept a but of distance and tried not to make it obvious. Stephanie kept giving me weird faces and looks anytime Jeremiah wasn't glaring at me. And Jeremiah didn't make his hatred for me hidden by any means of the word.

"Hey, I'm gonna head home. I have some stuff to do for work." I said with a small wave.

"I'll walk you out!" Harmony yelled, running over to me. She jumped on my back like she always does with a laugh. We walked down the stairs, her rambling about anything and everything she could. I smiled the entire time, her voice lighting up my world.

"So, do you like him?" She asked, as I set her down on the hood of my car.

"I like you." I said, bopping her nose with my finger which made her face scrunch up.

"That tells me nothing, you prick." She laughed. I could listen to that sound for days on end, good god.

"If you like him so do I, Harm." I said with a shrug. It was halfway true.

"Alright." She said, doubt lacing her tone.

"Stop doubting, just do whatever you feel is best."

I pressed a kiss to her forehead before bringing her into my arms. The hug was shorter than normal, but It was to be expected. The relationship may not have been official yet, but she liked him and I knew how to respect boundaries.

I watched her walk up the stairs and she texted me when she got into her apartment safely like always. I drive back home, my heart a little less full than it was when I arrived hours earlier.
