the second minho arrived at their house, he was bombarded by questions by his younger brother. "what happened?" he demanded. "what did i do? why was she ignoring me?"

minho ignored him as he kicked his shoes off and hung his coat on a hook and started trudging up the stair to go to his room, his mind spinning a mile a minute.

"what happened, hyung?" felix repeated, his voice cracking. "is she mad at me?"

minho's heart shattered when he heard how vulnerable his younger brother sounded. "yes, lix, she is," he said quietly. "but i don't know why."

the younger boy let out the sob he had been holding back. "what do you mean 'you don't know why'? why is she mad at me?"

minho engulfed his younger brother in a hug, hoping it would make him feel better. the two brothers stood there for a good half hour until felix's legs gave up on him, so minho carried him to the couch before hugging him once again.

it must have been another half hour until felix finally stopped crying and pulled away from his brother, his eyes puffy and red. "do you know why she's made at me, hyung?" he asked, his voice hoarse.

minho thought about the conversation he had with the girl. "lix... were you talking to and hugging another girl earlier?"

felix searched through his memories before nodding slowly. "yeah, asuka noona came over and said she was there to ask you out, so i was wishing her luck and stuff. why?"

minho smiled a bit at the mention of asuka, the girl who had asked him out earlier that day, but his smile vanished when he put two and two together. "she thinks you're playing with her."

"what?"

"felix, she thinks you're playing with her," minho repeated, making eye contact with his brother. "she thinks you actually like asuka, and that you never liked her in the first place."

all the colour drained out of felix's face and he jumped off the couch. "i have to go see her," he muttered, running towards the door. "she has to know—"

minho grabbed his sleeve before glaring at him. "go dress in something warmer. it's practically storming outside, you're going to get sick. do you want me to drive you to seungmin's?"

felix shook his head before running to his room, skipping stairs. "no, that'll make it awkward." he came back down less than a minute later, wearing a sweater, his coat, and a scarf around his neck. "i'll be back, hyung," he said quickly, grabbing an umbrella as he quickly wore his boots.

"stay safe, lix," minho wished him. "if you're not back in an hour, i'm coming to get you."

felix left the house, bundled up in layers of clothing, but he couldn't help but feel cold inside. he wanted to curse himself for letting jihye think that he didn't like her. hell, she had been the only thing on his mind since they met at the arcade!

as he ran through the familiar street's to seungmin's house, he prayed with all his might that jihye didn't hate him. he wasn't sure how he was supposed to live if the love of his life hated him. so when he finally arrived at seungmin's house, he took a deep breath before ringing the doorbell.

he waited there for a minute.

no answer.

he rang the doorbell again.

no answer.

what the hell? he asked himself before running towards the small garden gnome in seungmin's backyard. he lifted it up and grabbed the spare key underneath it, grateful that his friend had told him where it was.

but after unlocking the door, he didn't expect to see what he saw. he crept into the dead-silent house after taking his shoes off at the entrance to the living room. his vision blurred with tears when he saw jihye and seungmin cuddling in a small pillow fort that they must've made. cinderella was playing on the t.v. and there were two empty buckets of ice cream next to the remote on the table.

a tear dropped on his freckled cheek. she only thought she was getting replaced as my best friend, he realized. she didn't think i was dating noona or something. she doesn't like me, does she?

he blinked his eyes quickly, the tears falling gracefully on his cheeks. "you never liked like that, did you, jiji?" he whispered, knowing his words wouldn't be heard by the girl. "i'm sorry if i hurt you."

but even if jihye didn't like him that way, she and seungmin were still his best friends, even if they did end up dating. so being the good friend he was, felix draped another blanket around the two of them so they didn't get cold, threw out the empty tubs of ice cream, washed the spoons in the sink, and turned off the t.v.

"i'm sorry, jiji," he repeated quietly once again before turning around back towards the door. he couldn't stop the tears falling. for some reason, knowing that she loved seungmin and not him hurt more than thinking that she was angry at him.

i wonder if this is what having a broken heart feels like.
