In the heart of Tokyo, amidst the bustling city and its towering skyscrapers, there was a quaint little cafe named "Caffe del Sole." It was a sanctuary of warmth and the irresistible aroma of freshly baked goods. On this particular day, the bell above the entrance jingled as Manjiro walked in, seeking solace from the demanding responsibilities that came with leading the formidable Bonten organization. He went inside the deserted cafe and made a beeline to the back room where he found the woman whom he missed so much after a week of not seeing each other due to their work and missions.

Denise Laurent, or Den was engrossed in her work behind the counter. Flour dusted her apron, and beads of sweat formed on her forehead as she expertly kneaded the dough for a batch of pastries. Manjiro observed her from a distance, captivated by the graceful movements of her hands and the dedication she poured into her craft.

Den sensed his gaze and glanced over her shoulder, meeting Manjiro's eyes. "Hey..." she teased, a playful smile on her lips. "Aren't you supposed to be out conquering the world or something? Watching me bake isn't exactly a thrilling spectacle for such a person yourself, Mr. Sano."

Manjiro chuckled, leaning against the counter. "Nah, I like watching you do this, Mrs. Sano."

Den rolled her eyes, pretending to be annoyed. "What? Does my being sweaty and tired look appealing to you?"

Manjiro shrugged nonchalantly, his eyes locked onto her. "In its own way, yeah."

Den scoffed but couldn't hide the smile that tugged at the corners of her lips. She shook her head, returning to her work. "You're a weird one, Manjiro."

Manjiro continued to watch her, unfazed by her banter. After a moment of comfortable silence, Den broke it with a sudden question that caught him off guard.

"Hey, " Den called him out. "I was thinking of this question for such a long time now... but why does Emma think of me as her mom?"

Manjiro's expression softened, and he sighed as he did not expect the woman to ask this question to him all of a sudden.

"You did not even ask if I am fine or if anything happened during work?" Manjiro then sat on the stool in front of Den who was still busy needing.

"Oh, yeah. How's work? Did the guys get home with complete limbs?" Den said in concern, her attitude made Manjiro roll his eyes but he answered her anyway.
