and then there were four

Wooyoung saw the mad frown on San's lips, tempted to kiss it away as they walked to their destination which was Yeonjun's other car parked in the other parking lot on the other side of the house. It was a surprise, but Wooyoung thought it was a perfect couple activity. And a perfect way to distract San. "I didn't know you were the revenge seeking type," Wooyoung said, San looking at him. "Only when it comes to a few things," San said, Wooyoung nodding. His demon even sounded upset.

As long as San was Wooyoung's type he didn't really care about the rest.

"What one of the few things is it?" Wooyoung asked, nudging San's shoulder softly with his own to get him to talk. "Blue Eyes," San said, Wooyoung looking down as he frowned. "Oh," Wooyoung let out, San nudging his shoulder back. "It's okay," San said, knowing Wooyoung was thinking about his stitches. And probably blaming himself.

"Would it help if we went to get a police sketch of the guy?" Wooyoung asked, San looking at him. Wooyoung saw a sparkle in San's eyes that wasn't there when he asked them to go on a date -  "Where's the nearest station?" San asked, loving the idea. If he knew what the guy looked like then he could kill him and everyone who worked with him, sparing the innocent demons who would have otherwise been caught in the crossfire.

Wooyoung stopped walking, staring at San. "That's upsetting," Wooyoung said, San looking into his eyes. "You'd leave our date to go find Blue Eyes?" Wooyoung asked, finally making San smile. San closed the distance between them, reaching out to hold his hand. "Never," San said, Wooyoung humming. "Good then don't worry about it," Wooyoung said, not letting go of San's hand as they started walking towards the car. San had stitches so there was no way they were walking. Unless San wanted to be carried, in which case he would have agreed if San didn't have stitches.

San tried not to worry, finding it best to play along for now. He could handle things quietly later and focus on his human. "I wouldn't San. You know better." San heard the voice loud and clear, ignoring it as he walked beside Wooyoung.

Wooyoung stopped, looking at San, biting his lip. "Are your stitches okay? Can you walk?" Wooyoung asked, San looking at the house then at the car. "To the car?" San asked, Wooyoung squeezing his hand. "Is that too hard?" Wooyoung asked, calculating how long it would take to get to the car. San counted how many steps he would need to take, smiling, before he chuckled.

"I don't think it will be life threating," San said, kissing Wooyoung's cheek. Wooyoung looked happy to hear, giving San some space when his demon broke the hug. He was still close to him but there was still some distance. Wooyoung grew quiet, thinking about what San and Seonghwa were talking about and why Hongjoong stepped in and why Yeosang backed Hongjoong up. Poor Jongho seemed lost.

"Did you want to ask me anything?" San asked, pulling Wooyoung away from his thoughts. Wooyoung looked up at him, hesitating to ask. How do you ask your boyfriend if he had ever killed anyone? Straight up?

"I'm not going to judge," Wooyoung began, making San smile for no reason. Good to know that whatever answer he gave to Wooyoung's question it wouldn't change how he feels about him. Or so he hoped. "Okay," San began, Wooyoung biting his lip. San pulled Wooyoung closer to him, walking with their shoulders together. He purposely took baby steps, giving San plenty of time to stop the second it hurt.

"How many demons have you - killed?" Wooyoung asked, San going quiet. Wooyoung was hoping that San wasn't counting, San's eyes turning a stubble dark blue. He didn't seem to notice it. "Hundreds," San said, Wooyoung nodding his head. He heard the exact number in San's mind, knowing that it haunted him each time. "Mostly in self-defense," San added, his eyes turning a darker blue. "And others defending Seonghwa and Hongjoong," San said, leaving out details that Wooyoung wished his demon would add. "Others had to be punished," San said, his eye color turning red before he blinked it away.
