Chapter 16: Yaaaaaaaah, It's Rewind Time

You woke up to the sound of 2 people discussing about something in front of you with their backs turned towards you. You were kneeling on the ground with your hands tied from the front by some futuristic handcuffs. Then, as your vision gets clearer, one of the people that were discussing in front of you motioned to the other that you had woken up. The other person turned to face you, and you had a good look of his appearance.

He was wearing some kind of long leather jacket, and across his body were some sort of metallic body armor. He had a bunch of piercings on his face; eyelids, nose, ears, you name it. He seems to be around 18-30, and his right eye seems to be replaced with a robotic one. The most obvious feature he had was his bright red hair, which sticks out like a sore thumb. It doesn't help that he even has a mohawk, so you could really identify this person even if you were 100 miles away. If anything were to shout "cyberpunk raider", it would be this guy.

"Boys! Seems like our guest has awakened."

You heard some noises coming from the background and you turned your head around to see what it was. There seemed to be around 10-20 people standing around you, with some of them staring directly at you, while others gave reactions to what the guy with bright red hair said. Then, you turned back to the guy with the bright red hair as he started speaking again.

"Really dangerous for someone of your age to be walking around in the slumps, no?"

You processed the situation, then asked the guy with another question.

"Who... are you again?"

Then, all of a sudden, the people surrounding you all laughed, seemingly at your question. You can't help but be curious about what's so funny about that question.

"Hahaha...! Well, you seem like you're not from around here, so I can understand. My name..."

The person walked closer to you and kneeled down to your level. He got extremely close to your face as if trying to intimidate you.

"...is Rewind."

You processed that for a second, and let out a scoff. Then, the scoff turned into a small giggle.

"Just what kind of name is Rewind?" you said as you continued giggling. The rest of the people seemed to be unnervingly silent now, as if they couldn't even believe that someone would dare say such a thing. Especially Rewind himself, with his smiling face suddenly turning into a frowning angry face. Then, he proceeds to go on a rant in front of your face.

"Look, I made that name, when I was 12, okay? I thought it sounded cool, back then. And here, in Rainbow City, once you decided on a name, you can't change it anymore, alright? You can try, oooooooh you can certainly try, but when you use that new name, nobody knows you anymore, and you're not scaring anyone, if they don't know who you are now, right??"

The guy sighed. He sounded like he had to explain this to every single hostage he's ever taken and stood back up. Your small giggles turned into laughs, and as he finished his story, you laughed even harder.

"If you think that's funny, you should see the guy who called himself Backfire. Been backfiring on him ever since. Heh."

"Backfire????" you said in a mocking tone, then continued to laugh even louder. The entire back alley could hear you at this point.

"Yes, yeeees, laugh all you want..." 

Then, in a blink of an eye, Rewind already has a knife by your throat. You stopped laughing almost immediately, sensing danger coming your way if you continued.

"If you want those to be your last words...Then who am I to judge?" a smile procured on the man's face.
