Third Person POV
Gon didn't come here for Quinto.
He came for her.
Tress—No. 3 of the E-10. The Angel of Death.
She used to fight beside them. Bleed for the same cause. But now, floating in the sky with that corrupted red aura wrapped around her like a noose, she was nothing but a shadow of herself. Her soul—if it was still in there—was buried beneath layers of commands, experiments, and silence.
Gon felt it the second he arrived.
That aura...On.
It screamed of poison and chains. It twisted the air. It taunted him with every clash it made against Rin's golden energy. Rin was still holding back, calling her name, hoping, believing that the Tress she knew was somewhere inside that monster.
But Gon didn't share her hope.
He watched the two of them battle high in the night sky, and with every golden burst, every punch Rin took without retaliating, he saw the same thing:
A countdown.
Rin was running out of time.
And he wasn't about to let her die... Again.
So he stepped into the clearing like a storm without thunder—silent, final, a blade drawn too late for words. His eyes never left Tress, even as the trees bowed and the winds curled around his feet. He didn't care if she was once their friend. He didn't care what she was meant to be.
She was going to kill Rin.
So he came to end her first.
But then—
He saw him.
Sitting there on that living throne of vines like a bored god, fingers curled under his chin, watching Rin's suffering like it was entertainment.
Quinto.
Gon didn't need confirmation. His instincts, sharpened by blood and war, told him everything he needed to know. The stillness in the air. The reek of control. The way the vines reacted to his every breath.
This wasn't just a spectator.
This was the perpetrator.
He knew.
Quinto was E-10 too.
'Which means... he's here for Rin as well.'
Gon's fists trembled. Not from fear—but from how tightly he was clenching them to stop himself from erupting.
"The E-10..." he muttered, eyes narrowing, voice low like a blade unsheathing. "You're all getting annoying."
The air buckled as his aura leaked out, slow and cold—no longer flaring like fire, but crawling like fog before a massacre. He hadn't even moved yet, but the earth was already cracking beneath his feet.
"Are you here for Rin too?"
Gon's voice was quiet—but it cut like a scalpel, sharp and precise, honed by fury. His frown deepened as the words hung in the air, thick with intent.
The ground beneath him was already breaking—webs of cracks spreading like veins through the soil. His aura seeped outward, colder than ice, denser than stone. Not a blaze. Not a roar.
This was the kind of power that suffocated before it struck.
Quinto leaned back in his throne of twisting vines, utterly unfazed. His crimson eyes gleamed, half-lidded with satisfaction. And then—he smirked.
