Chapter 50

Lucy's POV

"I've been wondering, Celestia. Why are humans forbidden on the Dragon Realm?"

Everyone fell silent as i asked the question that's most probably been waiting to be asked. All eyes shifted to us which made me feel kinda uncomfortable. Glancing at Celestia, i can tell that she's hesitant. Either she don't want to tell me or she's not sure if she should tell me. The Celestial Dragon looks troubled, like she's debating to herself. An inner battle perhaps..

"Humans are forbidden from the Dragon Realm because of what happened years ago, Princess." She finally said after being silent for a full minute.

  "Years ago?"

"Yes. When Zeref attacked the realm and Queen Star protected us all. She fought him with all her might but was only successful on putting a powerful seal on him." She continued on but i still don't see where she's heading with this. Was she avoiding my question?

  "You still haven't answered my-"

"After the war between Queen Star and Zeref, peace started to fill the Realm once again. But due to fear, we, the Dragons, had decided to forbid any human from entering our world again. For we believe that it will only cause havoc once again. We wanted to cut all ties between humans and dragons. But Queen Star objected." Everyone was listening to her story inteny. Even it peaked my interest. I haven't heard of this before. They never really mentioned it to me.

"She asked us to give humans another chance. Since not all are evil and bad. At first, we were hesitant. But she's our Queen and Savior. We owe her a lot. And besides, giving a second chance wouldn't hurt right? So, we all came up with an agreement that time. Every hundred years, all Dragons are to visit Earthland and will be given two months to look for their child of choice. A kid that they will take under their wing. They will be given up to 5-6 years to train them. Once their time is up, they are to flee and return to our Realm. Unfortunately though, not all of us gets to find a student. For those cases, they are required to go back to our world and will wait for the hundred years to come by so they can return to Earthland once again." My brows knitted in somewhat confusion as i thought back for a second. Maybe.. Just maybe..

"So, humans are not allowed in the Dragon Realm by order of Queen Star herself? What if a mortal step foot in your world? What will happen to them?" Celestia seemed to be confused at the moment as i saw her frown slightly.

"Where are you heading with this, Princess?"

  "Just answer the question, please?"

"Well, nothing really, i guess. The air that we breath is the same as yours. The gravity will not change. The atmosphere as well. They can actually live in the Dragon Realm. Though, as the Queen ordered, all humans that will step put on our world will be either imprisoned for lifetime, will have their memory erased or will be executed." I shuddered at the thought. Though, as i can see, there still is a chance. A chance to let Natsu and Igneel meet. Same as Gajeel and Wendy. Well, it's now or never.

"Listen up, Celestia. I want Fairy Tail to train at the Dragon Realm." With those words, everyone gasped in shock. Guess they didn't expected my decision. Though, Celestia looked the most shaken and shocked.  She was staring at me with wide eyes, her mouth parted.

  "P-Princess?! Have you g-gone mad?! They can't-!"

"They can. As you said, humans can live in the Dragon Realm."

  "B-But Queen Star o-"

"I'm fully aware of that. Queen Star gave strict orders to all of you about this manner. But i think it's time to change some things. I'm pretty sure that Queen Star would agree to me if ever." She looked taken back with my response and grew silent for a few seconds as if thinking.

"How are you so sure?" She finally spoke up, her voice laced with uncertainty and conflications.

"She's my great grandmother. Though i didn't got the chance to meet her, i'm pretty sure she would do the same if ever she's in my position. You said so yourself, she pleaded to you guys to give humans another chance or did she not? It only proves that she still believes in goodness inside each human. "

  "But how-"

"I will return to the Dragon Realm first thing tomorrow to discuss this matter to all Dragons. Make sure to warn them about my return. Also, give them a brief explanation of what i'm planning to do." I spoke with authority, every word was laced with pride. The same way i saw my father talk to his workers and business partners.

"Princess! Don't you think your rushing a bit? Have you put some thought to this?"

"Yes, i did. This will surely benefit both parties. All of this is for the sake of training for the war. Think about it, the Dragonslayers still has yet to finish their training. They still have a lot to learn. Also, there are wizards here that are compatible with some dragons at the realm. For example, Juvia is a water mage. She can train with Serena to further enhance her magic. Laxus can be train by the real lightning dragon and can be stronger than he is now. Romeo, since he has fire magic, can train with Natsu and Igneel. And many more."

"I can see your point. But -"

"Not only that, this will strengthen the bond between Dragons and Humans. This will help both sides to trust each other. If we are to join this war, we can't have any tension building up between us. What we need is to unite and set our differences aside. What we need are allies." We stared at each other for a full minute, neither backing down. It was as if we were challenging each other. I held my gaze, not wanting to back down. I was determined to make this happen. For Fairy Tail. For Magnolia. For Earthland. For Natsu. In the end, it was her who gave up. She sighed and look away, a small smile tugging on her lips.

"Ne, you really have thought about this, Princess? "

"Of course. It's all for the sake of everyone."

"Then, how are you planning on convincing the dragons to agree?"

"I dont have any plans for now. I'll just talk to them. Discuss the pros and cons. Hopefully, it will end well." Sheepishly, i rubbed the back of my neck and gave off a hesitant smile. She chuckled at this and smiled nonetheless.

"Don't worry. The dragons really cares for you. And well, i guess they mingled with humans enough to agree. At least that's what i believe. Though, are you really sure about this?"

"Yes. Only a royalty can change a former ruler's law. And i'm going to do just that." Determined, i looked at all of them with a kind and strong smile. They finally seemed to understand though as they all gave me their smiles.

  Guess this is it..

We are all a step closer..

  A step closer to war..
