**Ridge**

Today's the day. I am showing Beowulf who I really am. I can't believe that today has really come. New Year's Eve, I chose today to be when I tell Beowulf because I want him to know who I really am during the New Year. He agreed to stay at my place to celebrate and I planned to show him before the party started, that way if he accepts me and stays for the party he won't freak when everyone shifts at midnight.

All I have to do is just wait and try not to freak out because he is already an hour late. Why is he an hour late? What could be keeping him? Did he figure out what I am and now he is afraid to come near me? Oh goddess no, that would be terrible! I need him to at least reject me to my face! Oh goddess, what if he rejects me now? I couldn't live with that. I would die. Then James and our pack would have no Beta, they would have to move the top warrior to be the new Beta, he would have to go through countless training to be a Beta, I've been training since birth to be James's Beta!

What about my family! What would Annie Jo do without her big brother? I guess my mom is pregnant though so Jojo wouldn't be alone for too long, but still, she would have no big brother to guide and protect her. Who would run with my father in the woods now that mom is pregnant and Jojo is still too young to shift? Who will mom bake all those brownies for now? Oh goddess, please don't let Beowulf reject me!

"Ridge!" My mother screams at me as she slaps me in the shoulder.

"What?" I ask her annoyed as I rub my now throbbing shoulder, she is a werewolf so her slaps hurt.

"I've been talking to you and you've been spaced out breathing heavily. Are you alright?" She asks worriedly.

"Yeah, I'm fine, I'm just a bit on edge is all." I say as I get up from her bed to pace.

"Oh, why's that?" She wonders.

"Because I'm going to tell Beowulf about me today and I'm kind of freaking out mom," I say as I run my fingers through my hair.

"Oh honey that's great!" Mom shouts as she runs to hug me. "I'm so proud of you, Ridge, you have grown up to be quite the man, and Beowulf would be insane not to accept you,"

"Hey now, that's my mate we're talking about, don't call him insane," I growl out in warning.

Mom smiles at me and pats me on the head even though I am a head taller than her. "I know sweetie, which is why you are the best mate for him,"

"Mom," I say and push away from her to stare at my shaking hands. "I wouldn't be able to live if he rejected me,"

"Oh Ridge, baby," Mom wraps her arms around me again only this time tighter than before. "Keep a positive mind about all this. You love him, and I can see it in his eyes that he loves you too, so just keep faith in our goddess and she will help you along the way,"

"Mom," I turn with a struggle in her arms. "I know the goddess helps and guides me, but can she help and guide a human as well? My human mate for instance?"

"I'm sure she can," Mom kisses my cheek. "The moon goddess is a wonderful woman, Ridge, she guides all mates which means werewolf or human." She says as she stresses the word 'all'.

"So she could help Beowulf accept me?" I ask hopefully.

"This is all up to Beowulf now, Ridge, the goddess is there to keep his mind calm and to help him reason. Springing our origins onto a human is quite a big deal when they grow up believing that we could never exist. So if Beowulf keeps a calm and open mind then I'm sure he would have no problem accepting you, Ridge. But you need to do your part of keeping him safe while you do it though, Ridge. If Beowulf gets spooked to soon then you could lose your chance of him ever accepting you. So try to do it in a secluded area and make sure that Beowulf is calm and open minded before you do anything,"
