Chapter 34

The next day at school, Ash decided to do something different at lunch, he decided to perform. A crowd would gather whilst he was singing, his friends on the other hand had no clue where Ash was.
"Where the hell is Ash?" James asked
"I don't know" Snake said
"Shh, can you guys hear music?" Tom asked
"Yeah, I wonder where it's coming from?" Nicole wondered and they all followed the sound to the performance hall where they saw Ash singing with an audience in front of him.
Ash saw his friends and smiled. As he finished the song he was on, he thought he'd surprise someone.
"Thank you all for staying and listening to me sing this lunch but right now, I would like to invite David up here to sing with me" Ash said pointing towards Squid who was a bit shocked.
He shook his head no.
"Come on David I know you want to" Ash encouraged, soon everyone was cheering Squid's name and he gave in and went up on stage to sing with Ash.

Ash:

The students applauded and a few teachers that had watched applauded as well. Tom saw Squid rub his throat and knew Squid had pushed it too far, well Ash had pushed Squid past the limit he was meant to sing. When Squid said no, he should of just walked away but the other students started cheering him on so he 'had to' give in. Tom walked over to Squid and helped him off the stage.
"You alright?" Tom asked
"I think so" Squid said but started coughing
"Come on, let's get you out of here, Ash pushed you too far"
Squid nodded and followed Tom. Ash wondered what was wrong with Squid. He hoped he was alright. Whilst Tom was getting Squid away from well performing anymore, Squid continued to cough, violently.
"Squid are sure your alright?" Tom asked again.
This time Squid shook his head.
"Come on, I'm taking you to the nurses office" Tom said as they walked towards the office.
Tom dropped Squid off at the nurses office just in time because Squid coughed so hard that he was harming his throat so he coughed up phlegm with a tad of blood in it. The nurse looked after Squid from there and Tom went to class.

Him and the others were in the same class for the last two periods of the day.
"Hey where's Squid?" Finnball asked
"Oh well let's just say someone forced Squid to sing over his limits whilst still being sick with tonsillitis and therefore Squid is now coughing his lungs up and is in the nurses office" Tom stated angrily looking at Ash
"I didn't force him, Squid decided to sing" Ash said
"No you forced him!"
"I did not" Ash yelled back and shoved Tom.
The two boys continued to fight.
"Here we go again" Sqaishey sighed.
"Thomas Spencer and Ashley Hall, detention both of you this afternoon!" Mrs Pashen yelled.
Both boys moaned and sat back down. Tom was in big trouble now from his parents. In the nurses office, Squid had been picked up by his dad and taken home so he could rest for the rest of the day. As soon as Squid was on his bed, he went straight to sleep. That afternoon, Tom did his hour's worth of detention with Ash and then walked home. He got a talking to from his mother and then went upstairs to check on Squid who he found asleep. Squid's blankets were on the floor so Tom picked them up and put them back over Squid. Then Tom left Squid to get some rest.

Squid woke up just before dinner and walked downstairs. He saw Tom in the lounge room and joined him.
"Hey Squid, how you feeling?" Tom asked
"Better but my throat still hurts" Squid admitted
"Well only song when your practicing, you only have a week to get better and the others were asking about you in class today"
"Yeah and what'd you say?" Squid asked.
Tom was a little nervous now "um, it's not about what I said, it's about what I did" Tom laughed sheepishly earning the look from Squid "ok, Ash got up me for saying he forced you to sing and we fought and got detention this afternoon which I went to" Tom explained
"Gee, sometimes Ash has anger issues I gotta say even though he's my friend and all but he does get angry easily" Squid said
"No kidding, you were worse though"
"Shut up" Squid said shoving Tom who laughed.
"Boys, dinner" their mum called and they raced to the kitchen.
Just as there mum was about to sit down the phone rang and she answered it.
"I wonder who that could be?" Tom asked
"Eh, who knows, but anyway you two better eat up" John their father said.
Diane then came back into the room.
"Who was it mum?" Squid asked
"Oh, it was your Aunty, your cousin Tyson is coming to stay for a while" Diane explained
"Awesome, I haven't seen Tyson in absolutely ages" Tom said
"Yeah, ah huh ages" Squid sighed.
He really didn't know what to think of Tyson. He hadn't seen Tyson since Squid was 10 which was 6 years ago and Tyson wasn't really nice to Squid and would always tease him when no one was around but when ever someone was in the same room, Tyson was 'nice'.
"What's up David? You don't seem happy about this" John asked
"Oh um it's nothing" Squid said and left the table.
"I'll go talk to him" Tom said and followed Squid.
Tom found Squid in his room reading.
"What was that about?" Tom asked
"What was what about?" Squid asked knowing what Tom was talking about
"You just leaving the table as soon as Tyson was mentioned"
"I just needed to do something"
"What, read a book?"
"Um, yeah, it's for English"
"Look, I don't know what is with you and Tyson but if something's up just tell me" Tom said then left.
Squid felt bad. His family thought of Tyson as the good child when really, he was the devil. Hopefully Tyson had changed for the better.
