*Avery's POV*

"He's not that bad, Dylan. You've just got to try to get to know him." I said.

"What else do I need to know? He's a jerk that cares about no one but himself." He said.

Not long after Luke dropped me off, my dad texted me saying he would be home late meaning I didn't have to worry about dinner tonight. So that I wasn't alone in my house, I took my work and walked to Dylan's and we were working together. But us working mostly consisted of us talking.

"He can be a huge jerk sometimes yes but not always."

"What do you know about him?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Well..." I was stumped. I didn't really know much about Luke because there wasn't a need for me to know anything. We went from hating each other to making this deal and I guess the whole 'introduction' thing got lost in translation.

"He really cares about that girl, Brooke. Um...he has three best friends: Michael, Calum, Ashton, and they're all in a band. Other than that I don't know anything...oh, and he sucks at chemistry."

"See? And I bet he doesn't know anything about you."

"Well it's not like I'm just gonna bring up things about myself. Even when we became friends, you had to ask and observe me in order to figure me out." I pointed out.

"My point is, you can't really say he's that great of a guy if all you've experienced with him is his jerk-ness." He said.

"That's not even a word. And calm down, Dylan, it's not like I'm gonna like him or anything. Everything we do is just for show."

"And what if you do, Avery? I know how you get overly attached to things sometimes. And what if he does? What if you end up getting hurt?"

I rolled my eyes. "I only like Ashton and he likes Brooke, that's all. When Ashton breaks up with Brooke to be with me, Luke will swoop in and mend her broken heart and everyone will be happy."

He shook his head. "There are so many holes in that plan. Too much could go wrong."

"I came here so we could work together, not for you to criticize my life choices." I said.

I know Luke was the worst person imaginable when we first met but you've got to admit he's a bit better. He still annoys me every now and then but he's actually kind of cool. Somehow we get along and, I don't know if I'm reading too into this, but we're kind of becoming friends. I don't like a lot of people but I kind of like him and I want Dylan to like him too.

"I won't say anything else." He held up his hands.

"Thank you. But I think it'd be good for everyone if we all just hung out, you, Luke, and me."

"You've got to be shitting me."

"I'm serious, it'll be fun. We could go skating or bowling or something. You guys could bond and learn not to hate each other. I've actually made a friend, Dylan, and I'd love it if you two got along." I smiled to convince him.

"But Avery..." He whined.

"But Dylan..." I mocked him.

He huffed. "Fine. I'm only doing this because I love you."

"Yay." I smiled. "I love you too."

"Yeah yeah."

After eating dinner at Dylan's place, I bid him and his family goodbye and left to walk home. I got there and he still wasn't home which was pretty good 'cause I really don't need that conflict in my life. With the bit of freedom I had, I decided to grab some ice cream from the freezer and watch television. It may seem like something so simple but my dad is always downstairs taking over the television and not everything I want to watch is on Netflix.
