Racehorse Heart

I look at the picture,
See you galloping along,
You and your noble steed as one.
And all I can think is 'wow'.
Some people have the strong heart of a bull,
Or even a mighty lion.
But you had the heart,
Of a powerful racehorse.
With your swift strides across the track,
As if you were floating on air.
Majestic, wild, a fleeting creature,
You dedicated your life to the track,
Not just your profession, but your passion, too.
Yet you always saved a hug for me.
How dare they try to take you down.
Gone from this world,
Speeding off into the next.
But don't worry,
Your love is still here,
You legacy shall forever live on.
Immortalised in the hoof prints,
You left on all our hearts.
A/N: This poem is dedicated to a very special person; my grandfather, Arthur. Today, the 15th of October, is his birthday, and I wanted to honour him. He lost his battle with cancer back in February 2016, so I am immortalising his life here on Wattpad, where it can be celebrated by our community. He gave his life to his local horse track, and was one of the longest running members there. He deserves to be recognised and remembered for all time, and I'm hoping he will be. Thanks for reading everyone, and I hope we can all cherish Arthur's everlasting memory.
