It's no secret that we've both grown up,
You just happened to be gone after I changed.
And now I can't prove to you,
That I'm not the scared, silent girl
You once knew.
I know all this time I've said it was you,
That you burned the bridge and broke me down.
But now I realise that it was me,
Dragging you down in my own storm,
My storm of self-destruction.
And now you'll never understand,
The songs of sorrow I've sung for years.
I know it's too late for sorry,
But sorry would never fix it anyway.
Let's just smile,
And leave it at that.
It won't be long until you're gone,
And I know we'll never have a real goodbye.
So I'll wave behind your back in silence,
While my soul can finally breathe.
