Pages Of A Story

All friendships have a story;
It is a story not judged by its cover,
Nor bound by the number or length of its chapters.
And just when I feel it's time to lower my pen,
You add another page,
To our everlasting friendship.

You don't try to make me perfect,
No matter my mistakes.
You continue to stay by my side,
Even when I want to cry.

Like ghosts roaming the earth,
Our souls will never part.
Your sun shines on my horizon,
Even when I'm enveloped in darkness.

My beloved doppelgänger,
We lean on each other for support.
You get me to the finish line,
Even when I can run no more.

I know we're young and foolish now,
Still learning our place in this world,
Taking it step-by-step, day-by-day.
But even if one day you're gone,
You've left imprints on my heart,
That I know will always stay.
A/N: My submission for the third task of the Serenity Writers Poetry Contest. The topic was 'friends', so I took what I felt is what it means to be a friend (to love without condition and to listen without conviction) and put it in a poem. Hope you liked it, please vote and/or comment and thanks for checking out this update! (:
