It's no secret that we both get scared,
It's just that I didn't realise all along,
That we have the same fears.
I sit here and listen to your favourite songs,
Just so I can remember you,
Until we're back together.
But when I try to sing along,
You're suddenly there to push me back down,
Without you ever realising.
And as I sit in the darkness with you by my side,
You a shining star, all aglow,
A storm wreaking havoc in my mind.
As much as I love you, even you don't know,
Oblivious to the tears after we say goodbye.
It's selfish of me to wish I had more,
So I sit here in silence and treasure what I have,
While my soul lives in a dream.
