The Fear That Lingers

232 13 2

I knew I was in the wrong,
But I never realised how much.
I couldn't even work up the courage,
To say goodbye.

Under her watchful gaze,
But in the wrong way.

You smiled,
If only a little.
Gone in a moment,
But embedded into my mind.
It was a smile for me,
And it meant the world in my eyes.
But now,
Back to reality.

Even with you gone,
I can never stop worrying.
The fear will always remain,
You just left it behind,
And someone new will pick it up.
It just happened sooner than I thought.
Is it so wrong,
That I'm happy you're gone?
I mean, yes, I'd love you to stay.
But now I can leave you behind,
Or at least try...
A/N: I've been having lots of inspiration for new poems recently, which is always a good thing :). I combined two different ideas in this one, which I think worked out quite well. I like the separated stanzas in this one. Let me know what you think in the comments, and I hope you enjoy. Thanks, bye!
