'Sweet Dreams'

You tell me 'sweet dreams',
As you tuck me into bed.
But I already know,
Only nightmares will fill my head.

Stereotypical fantasies,
They make me roll my eyes.
Why do you think I give a damn,
About mythical creatures that roam the skies?

I've got much bigger problems,
I'm battling in a war.
Against the demons in my head,
That wail, shriek, and roar.

Fairies and rainbows,
Pink sparkly lights.
Are these really the things,
You think I dream about at night?

You don't know my definition,
Of a so-called 'sweet dream'.
It's any time when I wake up,
And do not sob or scream.
A/N: I found this poem written on a piece of paper while cleaning out my wardrobe that I wrote several eons ago, so I thought I would share it with you. I remember when I wrote it that the stanzas were in no particular order, so I decided to arrange them like they are shown above.
