The notes flittered through the air,
Delicate, poignant, powerful,
The epitome of beauty.
You're right there, front and centre,
The connection between us something,
That only happened in fairy tales.
But as my eyes flutter back to you,
I remember the truth.
It could never happen in reality,
Forever it would remain just a dream.
But maybe,
It could be more than a fantasy.
I'd been waiting forever for this chance,
Learning, rehearsing, listening out,
Hoping the moment would arise.
Yet when it finally presented itself,
My eyes were immediately drawn to you,
To see if you'd be watching, caring.
Every possible way to fail flashed before me,
And I didn't have the heart to take it.
Snatched away, I knew it was no one's fault,
Except my own.
I try to convince myself,
It could've worked, there's always next time,
But with you around,
I know you'll never let me forget it.
My one opportunity to prove myself,
Exactly how I pictured it.
But I forgot the most important part,
Remembering that you were there,
You were still there,
And you'd always be there.
It's ironic how the curse I'm trying to escape,
Is the one thing stopping me from freeing myself.
A/N: Has anyone else ever felt really bad about missing an opportunity to do something amazing? Regret is a horrible feeling, because you can't change anything about it, can't go back and right the wrong. I hope you don't ever have to feel like that. Live life without regrets, but please don't do something stupid and die. Live life, laugh lots and love forever <3 (:
